Adding adopted child to family health insurance?

We Answered:

I was a licensed insurance agent for about 20 years and I am the adoptive mother of two special needs children.

You may choose to add your child to your private or group health insurance and if you do so your policy will be the "Primary" insurance and it will be billed first.

You will not lose the medicaid or state health insurance by adding the child to your policy. What will happen is any medical facility, doctor or other health need that IS covered by the medicaid or state insurance will be paid as medicaid will come in and cover any co payments.

For example medications at the pharmacy our primary (employer provided group health insurance) Pays for the medication as it would in any ordinary situation. Our Health insurance requires us to pay either $10.00 (generics) or $25.00 co-payment for prescriptions. Medicaid covers the $10 or $25 and we do not pay for medications.

But: Our daughters Psychiatrist does NOT accept Medicaid or state health insurance so--any co-payments his service requires we need to pay out of pocket...

You can keep your child off your health insurance but, I would suggest NOT doing this. The truth is the depending on your child's special need--Medicaid is not always going to offer families the Best Care---having your private insurance as an option for children with special needs is an advantage for getting the services your child may need.

Depending on only the publically funded system may cause you to have to use it the same as any other family on Medicaid--in some cases this would mean that you have to work with a County or State provided case worker and be part of the CPS system in order to access things like Mental Health.... With private insurance you will continue to have control over what happens and what care you get....

With Both you have both options and can use a combination of services depending on your child's needs.

this family health network dont want pay for my child surgery ,who can i call?

We Answered:

Try this, get ahold of a Shriners hospital, they are the most wonderful people around. That's what they are there for. My father has been a Shriner for almost as long as I have been alive(29). They will go out of their way for ANYONE!!!! especially a child. Do a search for shriners hospitals and they will help you research a doctor or find funding for you. I will be thinking of you and your precious angel, good luck to you.

How much does it cost a good health insurance for a family with a child in the USA?

We Answered:

The cost of insurance depends upon previous health problems, amount deductible you want for each dependant, what type of coverage you want such as a limit of $10,000 per year per family member (Primary Care Only) from Physicians--no hospital coverage.

This cannot be answered without knowing what you want.

Why is Drinking Legal in the west & other countries ?Drinking is bad for health, children ,family, society ?

We Answered:

Excessive use of alcohol destructive to the individual, family and society. Mild social use helps people relax and enhances social interaction. Unfortunately most people cannot distinguish between mild and excessive use.

Alcohol use was almost universal at the dawn of history (~3400 BCE). Archaeological evidence indicate alcohol usage from the first human settlements (~20,000 years ago). While I do not dring for medical reasons, I doubt that alcohol can ever be eliminated.

The American prohibition of alcohol (1920-1933) was a disaster. Most people ignored the law. Criminal organization developed that still constitute a major problem.

Alcohol use in Islamic and other countries is widespread, particularly among the wealthy classes. It is simply not visible.

What is the def of dependent and individual health ins when calc child support. use family cover or child?

We Answered:

On either parents Insurance invoice it will list the Employee + Dep and should list out the costs separately. The amount of the child's coverage (dependent) should be the only thing deducted from wages to arrive at a net income.
