When a man has a child to support, working "part-time" is a luxury he can no longer afford. If your child's father is only working part-time, he could well be told to get a full-time job. Or more likely, the judge will assess child support at a rate he believes your ex is capable of earning on a full-time basis and it will be up to your ex as to how he gets that money. When you go to court to ask for child support, bring a lawyer with you. Your lawyer will be able to get the appropriate amount of support ordered. Take care.

P.S. Don't forget to ask that he be required to pay the child's health insurance too.

P.P.S. Don't fall for the trap of letting the father take care of the child during the day. The next thing that will happen is that HE files for custody and you will be paying child support to him. Don't do it!

I really feel for your friends daughter. Even if she had health insurance, most policies have only limited benefits they pay anymore. I have been told that many only have say 3 days or even a max of a week they will cover due to the high costs. Most people with addictions need the time to get off of it. It can take several days to get out of the system and then in some cases, can be life threatening with the withdrawal the body goes thu if not handled properly. So in effect, many go back and start all over again.

With oxycontin, that is powerful stuff, as bad as cocaine, morphine and it is addicted. You might want to post this on addictions or other categories on yahoo for a more definitive answer. This is not going to go away and eventually she will get phone calls from her daughter from jail where she would probably steal or do whatever to support this habit if she does not get help.

Well that will depend on how much your monthly expenses are
you must consider how much you need for clothing, shoes swinging lessons, little league or any kind of sports your son
may want to play? Dose your mom baby sit for free? You should pay her something even if she uses the money to take
your son out say to the park and buy him ice cream.
The court will want you to take into account the cost of shampoo even toilet paper (Really) Don't for get your son may need eye glasses and trips to the dentist, all of this counts. Of Course you want his father to be able to pay for his own expenes but you also want to make sure your son will be provide for. Good Luck.
