On a lower income like your husband's, that's an outrageous amount of child support. Most attorneys won't charge a consultation fee on this kind of case. It'd be worth just checking into the laws, even if there's not much to be done about it.
As for the mother - if she really isn't doing a good job, it can be proven, especially if the child is in school. Have your husband talk to the teacher and counselor. Maybe they'll have some insight for him.

You will need to contact MSP and ask - it depends on what type of work permit you have.
Basically if you are eligible then your dependents are also eligible.
if you are not eligible then your dependants are not eligible - thats when your employers benefits will help


Please explain what your job is and why is there is no canadian available to do that same job? In this time of recession and high unemployment - I would like to know why your employer chose to NOT hire a Canadian?? Just how special is your job?

I think your best bet is honesty. Tell whoever needs to know that you know who the father is, but you fear he will be abusive/an unfit parent and give them your reasons for believing this. If you actually build a strong case against him, there's a good chance he won't even have visitation rights. But I wouldn't advise lying, even though I've never been in this situation...that's not the way to get what you want.

Wow I was watching this last night on the news!!! I am SOOOOOOOOO APPALLED! Who has the RIGHT to with hold that information! I think it's robbery.... knowing people WILL willingly pay the $50 to know the sex, it's such a gouge!
I originally lived in Ontario and NEVER ever in my LIFE paid for my health card, I was appalled when I moved to Vancouver 3 years ago and learned I need to pay $52 a MONTH for just my health card! This isn't even coverage either~ this barely covers ANYTHING! I on top of that pay $100 a month for benefits.... which is the ONLY good thing I have I feel.
I am now 10 weeks pregnant and I was even upset that I am not allowed to know the gender of my baby until even 20 weeks, which is later then they tell you in Ontario as well! And not only that but MOST of the technicians and doctors wont even tell you at all ANYWAY! I'm sooooooooooooo angry... believe ME when I say, when my 20 weeks ultrasound comes up, I WONT be taking no for an answer! How does someone feel that they have a right to KNOW and not tell the patient.... it's unethical! It's immoral! People have been allowed to know the sex of their baby for years, and NOW....as technology is getting better...NOW they try and take that right away from us, or better yet, make a few bucks off us when CLEARLY we get raped more then any other province in Canada>!?!! I am FURIOUS!!! and I think this is completely outrageous!
I think this is the biggest BS story I've ever heard in years... as if we aren't getting raped enough with OVERLY expensive housing, and through the roof with taxes and now HST.... all our friggen tax dollars going towards a new Effing roof at the GM place!!! HALF A BILLION DOLLARS!!!! R U KIDDING ME!!! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! Our tax dollars are being pissed down the toilet on events like the olympics and new roofs for our stadium which no one really gives a Sh!t about....
I used to LOVE BC because it IS beautiful here, however, this gouging high cost living, make for a very unattractive Province. At least in Vancouver anyway.... people can hardly keep a roof over their head as is, and its only becoming more and more ridiculous... it had put such a damper on my view of BC that after my baby is born I will be moving back to Ontario because seriously, this is becoming completely ridiculous...
Charging to know the sex of your baby... GIVE ME A FCUKING BREAK! ugh!!!
