Child Health Concerns

Barry Said:

Health concerns about the black mould around my fridge?

We Answered:

I had this concern too as we had black mold in our basement and i was afraid of it being spread through the house via the heater ducts. We had a professional cleaning service come in and professionally remove it. It would have cost about $3000 but our home owners insurance covered it...

I did a lot of research about it online, and mainly what i read was that it "May be" related to birth defects and miscarriage but the scientific research done on it is too limited to say for sure.

Either way, get it taken care of, professionally so you aren't releasing mold spores into the air and onto other surfaces, and don't risk it!

Shane Said:

Are there health concerns for breat feeding if you have implants?

We Answered:

If the implants are placed directly under the skin, all the ducts will be cut and you will not be able to breast feed, although the milk glands will still be there to produce milk, the milk can't get to the outside. If the implants are placed under the breast tissue near the chest wall muscles, then you should be able to breast feed although some ducts may be cut during the surgery. I would suggest waiting until AFTER you have your babies to augment your breasts. Pregnancy will change the shape of your breasts and you may get better looking results by waiting until after you are through having kids.

What are the health concerns, if any of having caged guinea pigs sleeping in the same room with a child?

We Answered:

Hello,

There are no real healths concerns that I know of. The things you need to take in to consideration are primarily, does your child sufferer from allergies. After you have answered the next thing you need to think about is, they do not sleep as we do. They will be up at all hours. They do not squeak a lot at night, but they do drink of the water bottle and they do continuously chew. If your child is a light sleeper, it may not be the best choice. I have a house full of them as we have a guinea pig rescue, My daughters chief complaint was drinking from the water bottle at night. The primary rescue is on the first floor of our home, but there are always the ones that seem to be piggy napped to her room, if they are back down stairs the nest day I know they are mid-night drinker. The best advice I can give you is to try it and see how it works out. You may also want to ask a pediatrician these questions.

Mothers: Did you worry excessively about your unborn child possibly having health concerns?

We Answered:

It is normal and natural to worry about your unborn child.

Try not to worry though, any problems are usually picked up by your health professional. Ultrasounds are a great relief to see your little one growing and thriving, but for most people they are few and far between.

In Australia there are blood tests at around 12 weeks screening for DNA and other disorders along with ultrasound and also the usual 18-20 diagnosis ultrasound.

I am grateful my obstetrician has an ultrasound machine in her room, so every appointment except one, i have been lucky enough to see my baby. Im currently 37 weeks pregnant, and i have been lucky enough to see my bubs once a month, now twice a month. It has been great reassurance for me.

keep your chin up, try to worry less even though that's hard, follow what you know is good for you and your child, research and always ask questions to be on the safe side, people are always willing to help/answer.

Good luck.
