We need to start by reducing costs through tort reform. The next step would be tax deductions for health care. These are 2 great ideas touched on by Bush last night (Did I just say that?).

It is not a one step process. Allowing importation of drugs from Canada, allowing MediCare to shop for lower drug prices, allowing citizens to "buy-in" to the same health care plan their elected representatives get for free - these are all steps that can be taken.

We pay more in this country for heath care than the rest of the world, but are far from the top as far as infant mortality, longevity, and obesity. We are paying too much for what we are getting.

A government takeover of healthcare would be a nightmare. Costs would skyrocket, and efficiency would decline.

Write a letter to the foundation, giving your name, background, and ages of your children, and explaining your situation, including that you live in India.

I'm not sure what foundation you mean, but many health organizations work across national borders. Make sure whatever letter you write gets checked by someone who is fluent in the language the foundation prefers, or in English if you're using that.

Most groups try not to discriminate against people writing in a language they're not fluent in, it can be hard for them to understand exactly what you mean if they can't understand your phrasing, so have someone good at the language help you write the letter after you gather all the information you need to give them.

I think this a very difficult project, hoverever very worthwhile. But I think Bill Gates and his foundation are more interested in helping 3rd world countries more than america, and I don't think he would get involved in something so political. Trying to persude him of the value and importance of such a project is not a bad Idea but I have no idea of how one would go about it, a petition wouldn't be a bad start I guess, little media coverage, a direct proposal. take your pick.
