Child Health In Africa

Karl Said:

Question about adoption from places in africa like ethiopia. Health question. HIV?

We Answered:

Children are tested for HIV before being eligble for adoption. The US used to not allow any intercountry adoptions if the child was HIV+, but that has been changing recently. Now that said, bear in mind that this is a developing country that is doing the blood test and their lab standards may not be up to Western standards. So it's always recommended that the adoptive parents re-test in the United States. Adoptive parents need to prepare themselves for the possibility that the tests run in-country might not be valid. If you aren't willing to parent a child that might have HIV or some other health issue, then intercountry adoption isn't for you. Many health conditions go undiagnosed in countries that do not have access to advanced medical technology.

ETA: Or the APs home country. Sorry, sometimes I assume that I'm speaking to another American.

Curtis Said:

why do the starving children in africa have big stomaches?

We Answered:

It's called Kwashikor, a nutrition imbalance caused by a significant lack of protein in their diet. Their feet are usually swollen also.

Steven Said:

are all the industrial countries stupid for health care for their citizens accept South Africa &USA?

We Answered:

Of course, they're stupid. They could also have a grossly unfair tax system, high unemployment, falling wages, tainted food supplies, economic booms in which the prosperity level for the middle and working classes actually drops and a currency that's circling the drain. The fact that they don't have any of those things proves how stupid they are.

They're just too dumb to see the "Benefits" of Globalization, and too selfish to see why they should have less so that the Rich can have more.

"Socialism" isn't a dirty word there. That's how dumb they are.

Lydia Said:

10.5 million children under 5 will die this year—why aren't more people talking about this?

We Answered:

People are selfish.

Timothy Said:

10.5 million children under 5 will die this year—why aren't more people talking about this?

We Answered:

I think it is great you care deeply for these children. I wish I could do something but I have very little money.

I think a lot of people are wrapped up in their own lives ( which is understandable.. they have families and work ) that they forget sometimes. I don't think a lot of people are heartless. They just forget or are unaware.

Erica Said:

'Believers' and nonbelievers, will you answer my questions about God?

We Answered:

One answer to all your questions is that there is no God.
I can't believe in something or someone that would allow defenseless children to starve to death.
An all power full being that would bet on our lives is ludicrous.
Children die because this is life, we are born with frailties and abnormalities, once again there is no all power full being stopping this from happening.
I don't believe Jesus was beat as a child I don't believe he was molested or raped. Therefore how can he say that he adorned all pains of life.
The Sunday thing is crazy people in the Bible belt.

Nelson Said:

We Answered:
