Lucille Said:

How do you interpret Florida Stat. Title XXXVII INSURANCE Chapter 627,627.6562 Dependent coverage. Sect. 1?

We Answered:

wondering, Health insurance can be very tricky. Since I live in Virginia I'm not familiar with the Florida regulations, so I recommend you contact a local health insurance agent. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Health-Insurance.html They should be able to help you.

Christian Said:

Do you think there will be a lot of "unintended consequences" as the result of Obama's health care bill?

We Answered:

With a law (it's no longer just a bill) as needlessly complicated as this one, and in a market as complex as the US health care market, there are bound to be some unintended -- though not entirely unpredictable -- consequences. Some of those consequences have already been seen in Massachusetts, which passed a very similar health care overhaul a few years ago. Like the one described in this article, they will have to be dealt with as they arise.

Child support issue Florida?

We Answered:

Unfortunately not having your ex pay support will have no bearing on the mother seeking support from you. As in my opinion, I appluad you for NOT taking support. Only someone in the DCSE would make a comment on not taking up for your son. Any mother out there that said the same thing would complain about the "dead beat dad". I am like WTF ever. Those people are one trackers.

Anyway your current marriage and children may help a "little" but is not part of the formula for calculating the payments. Make sure you get a lawyer and you negotiate the amount the best you can or she could get more than you can reasonably pay.

Ill get some flack for this but I am a proud father of 2 and I proudly pay 1100 a month while my ex don't work and hasn't work in over 10 years. I do it and don't complain. I just don't like the system and what it creates for "other" fathers out there.

Good luck!

Please tell me about the Florida Health care law regarding 26 year old children!?!?

We Answered:

Your parents do not have to cover you under their insurance if they do not want to cover you. (Frankly, your parents don't have to let you move back into their home so I hope you will be kissing their feet with gratitude.) Your parents have the absolute right to cancel your coverage, especially now that you have graduated from college.

If they WANT to continue to pay for your insurance, they can do so. Florida 627.6562 allows for dependent children up to 25, who live with their parent or are a student, and up to 30 years old, who are also unmarried and have no dependent child of their own, to remain on their parents' insurance.

But if they do not want to continue to cover you and you get obnoxious or otherwise filled with a false sense of entitlement, your parents could boot you out of the nest to let you fend for yourself. Hopefully, you will bust your tail and find a job. Even if you are only able to find a job working a McDonalds you can give your mother money each month in exchange for her keeping you on her policy.

Myrtle Said:

Can a Florida judge order that a non-custodial parent be allowed to claim child on his taxes.?

We Answered:

A judge can and in alot of cases does order this. Have you ever heard of a form 8332? The parent who has custody signs this paper in the year the other parent wants to claim the child. For example, if your ex gets the child on his 2006 taxes, you sign it in 2006 for him to use. Only catch is, it only releases dependancy and child tax credit, which your child is too old for, to the non custodial. You keep the Head of Household (if you qualify), the day care expenses, and the Earned Income credit (if you qualify). Hope this helps.
