Child Health Insurance Nc

Jeremy Said:

Free Prenatal care or Maternity Insurance in Charlotte, NC?

We Answered:

Hey there. I live in Salisbury about 30 minutes from you. I applied for pregnancy medicaid and got it. My husband works full time and I have income but they still approved me. From what I understand no matter what income you have you are suspposed to be approved if you are pregnant. It only took my dss office a week or two to send my card. As far as free prenatal care there are so many resourses in Charlotte im sure you can find some where to go to. You can even come to salisbury if you dont mind the drive and go to the pregnancy support center.

Divorce w/ Child Support in Nevada but Dad's now in Oregon & Mom's now in NC. Where to Modify?!?

We Answered:

I think you would go through the agency in the state you live in. I work in payroll and the notices that come to me come from other states where the child lives. I also know that even if the agency from the state the child lives in comes up with a figure to be paid, it cannot violate the withholding rules of the state of the person making the payments. An example: I am in Texas. If I get an order say from Nevada, if it says that I am to withhold $300 a check from the non-custodial parent's paycheck, but the net amount of his check (gross minus taxes) is only $500, I am only allowed to withhold $250, because Texas rules state that I cannot withhold more than 50% of the net pay. So, even if you are told that you will receive a certain amount, if he doesn't make enough money to support that amount, you won't get the entire amount. But that may be a moot point since it sounds like your ex makes decent money.

Health Insurance Question?

We Answered:

No, it is not welfare. Your ex pays for your daugher's insurance according to her income.
I agree with your ex. Your insurance is tied to your employment and could end whenever your employment ends. The NC state sponsored health insurance program is much more reliable than private insurance.

Car accident;no health insurance-should we go to the doc?

We Answered:

I cannot give you medical advice, but if you need medical assistance, use your head. Go to the ER.

Contact the other party's insurance company and let them know that you and your family were injured. They will let you know if they will reimburse you for your medical expenses. If further treatment is needed, they do not have to pay as you treat, but they will likely agree to reimburse you for all reasonable medical expenses once you have all stopped treating.

However, NC still applies the contributory negligence rule. Meaning, if you are found even 1% at fault for your damages, you may be barred from recovery.

No need to start suing anybody. Contact the adjuster. He/she will explain NC's tort liability system. I believe it is verbal, no tort threshold needed to file a claim.
