You can do better than $1,000 a month for a family on individual insurance. I have a family of 5, and we are covered for only $432 a month.

Don't let an insurance agent tell you that's about right. It's about right FOR THEM. The more you pay for insurance, the more both the insurance company and the agent pocket for themselves.

You can see that we save about $5,000 a year, in a healthy year, by choosing a high deductible plan. It's only in an unhealthy year you would pay more - but it's LESS than $5,000, so the high deductible plan is still a better value.

Blue Cross is the MOST expensive plan you can take out. There are equivalent options that cost less.

You need an independent insurance agent to work this out for you. If you are in Texas, I can recommend my agent, or if not, I provide links on my site to insurance quotes.

Do your homework, and you CAN bring this price down.
