Here's my opinion, nursing a toddler is totally inappropriate. It is the mothers insecurity to continue breastfeeding into their toddler years. I personally believe the health benefits babies (keyword) get from breast milk when they are born are extremely important, but your toddler can get the same benefits from other foods if you feed them the right things. Babies can't eat those types of foods and rely on breast milk for those nutrients. Babies breastfeed, toddlers do not. I say, if you STRONGLY believe your child needs your breast milk for nutrients into their toddler years, then pump the milk and give it to them. They should not be taking it directly from your breast.... They also need to learn to start being independant. And as hard as it is for the mother, the longer you wait the harder it is on the both of you. There is a definate point when breast feeding is inappropriate, and toddlerhood is most definately past that point.
