No, it doesn't seem even faintly fair or reasonable. Your problem is that you bothered getting yourself a decent job. My ex is an unemployed bum and I've never received a cent from him, yet I manage to live very comfortably with my son. If you can afford to get yourself a good lawyer before she takes all your money I definitely would. Yes she's the mother of your children, but I don't see the fairness in a system that gives your ex more of your pay than you get! My apologies to any single mums getting offended by this view, but just because the marriage fails doesn't mean you have to go for the jugular.

Lets not forget that it's all of us who are also chipping in for here SS payments, tax credits, and other social cash equivalents.

But in this day and age...alimony is completely outdated.
