child health question....?We Answered:
my daughter was exactly the same way."water" was "bah-blah"
"butterfly" was "buh-buh-blye"
"mrs potts" was "mippipp pops"
"excuse me" was "koomeez"
you could talk and talk and talk and talk and suddenly she'd blink, and say "what?" - hadn't heard a thing. unless you physically touched her and said "look at me!", she didn't respond. and YET: play 2 bars of any song and if she'd ever heard it once, she would tell you the name - so she wasn't deaf.
turned out she had a massive silent ear infection. the doctor couldn't even tell how bad the damage was because her ear canal was swollen nearly shut but the distortion of her speech indicated fluid buildup behind the ear drum.
took months to shake that sucker and she was left with a permanent learning disability - non-verbal learning disorder. basically, although she's a native english speaker, her brain works visually so all speech is processed in a manner similar to someone who's speaking a second language they don't know all that well.
need i say, get him assessed ASAP?

Health Department child immunization questions. . .?We Answered:
1. Not everywhere. Some states have similar programs, but many run it on "ability to pay" situation. You are charged what you can financially handle.2. Taxes pay for the shots. So you and I do overall.
3. I do think it is taking advantage of the system. Because if someone that can afford the charge does it for free, they are actually taking away from someone that may really need to get it for free. I don't feel that is right in any situation.
I know that my insurance pays for my daughter's immunizations. We pay a charge for an office visit ($30 I believe), and the insurance company pays for all of the shots.

Child health question?We Answered:
The fact that his grades have dropped off dramatically is an indication there is something going on at the school between him and maybe a group of others. The other kids are probably threatening him if he tells on them, and so he's repressing this, thus the reason why he's waking up at night crying. Try taking him to a happy place like McDonald's for instance, and when you're eating, ask him if there is anything he would like to share with you about what's happening at school. Tell him that you won't tell anyone if he doesn't want you to, but that you really would like to help him. He needs to know he has someone he can trust to talk to without the fear of it getting back to the school system, because if it does and they talk with the other kids they will make it harder on your nephew. This is the kind of relationship I have with my grandchildren. A lot of times children won't talk to their parents about things, but will talk to another family member.Sidney Said:
Why are there so many polling questions on the mental health section? We Answered:
Report it, today is the first day I've noticed it so hopefully it won't be a regular event. Dont wanna single anyone out but it seems to be one person in particular, could be a troll.
