Here in India...its done to a small extent...in a way.

Just like before people get married in Church, we are required to do a day's training programme on marriage (cross my heart!), when i was expecting, me and my husband had to attend a class on good parenting.

Both programmes entailed questionnaires where we were asked very poignant & relevant questions..and tho' it was just on paper, i have to say that in retrospect, it has helped.

Btw, this isn't done by the Governments, its done by the Church...to prevent marriages breaking up and children being neglected. Its conducted by happily married couples and counsellors. Its good.

What the heck??? Is the US planning to start a eugenics program. I hope this Ron Paul's bill passes. Psychiatry is not perfect and if run by the government it would be worse. I can't stand when Liberals try to use government to take control of kids over their parents.

By the way, a child so young could be reacting more to someone else's depression--is it yours? I ask this as a formerly depressed person and as a mom.

I think if you're taking good care of yourself and the little one, and being happy and playful around him/her it will be "contagious". Support and help from people who care about you both is important too.

I would let them keep it. I'm all for knowledge and contributing to it in any way I can, and I don't distrust the government to use it in some grand DNA conspiracy or something.
