Child Health System

Micheal Said:

What is the ONE thing our health care system needs to change?

We Answered:

I would say tio change our whole health care system into a UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM like the european countries, such as France! I believe France has the best health care system...although many might argue about it because of high taxes.

Keith Said:

Why does America rank last in health care system performance?

We Answered:

Because our health care is run by private for profit organizations .

Yolanda Said:

How does the Canadian health care system work?

We Answered:

I will do my best to answer as many of these as I can:

1. You book an appointment for an annual physical.
2. You can go to the hospital, or to a drop-in clinic, in that kind of situation.
3. I'm not sure of the exact procedure, but I know you would get on some kind of waiting list for a major surgery such as knee replacement. Cancer or diabetes treatment would obviously start pretty much immediately, if you needed it.

-You call for an appointment to a doctor (i.e., a general practitioner, or a specialist)
-You can certainly choose your doctor.
-To see a physician, you can probably go the day you call, or a day or 2 later
-Specialists might be a fair bit longer
-There is indeed a 911 number to call: 911.
-You don't have to pay for things that the Canada Health Act says you don't have to pay for, basically. In addition, employers often offer health plans to cover things like dental appointments, orthodontics, etc., which aren't covered under the Canada Health Act. Something you would have to pay for, as an example, would be cosmetic surgery (plastic surgery).
-You can go to either a hospital or a doctor's office. Hospitals are more for surgeries and emergencies; doctors' offices are for more routine medical visits.
-You buy your medications at a pharmacy; some are covered by the Canada Health Act, some by your health insurance drug plan, and others are not covered.
-MRI and CT scans are certainly available. I'm not sure about the budgetting; perhaps there are fewer of these machines, but they are certainly available for those that need them.
-No comment on the ethics question :)

Child-birth and the US Health-care system: Is it going down??...?

We Answered:

The laws vary from state to state. I work at a peds office and our parents are given to choice to vaccinate. The information is given and if mom still decides to avoid then a waiver is signed stating the DR recommended it and discussed the risk and mom/dad is refusing.

As far as C-sections this is why I choose a Midwife to diliver my children. Since she will not get paid if a C-section needs to be preformed she will try her best to help you deliver vaginally. OB will get paid regardless and actually more for C-sections so they become cutting crazy. Its easy/fast for them

Sherri Said:

Choose one of the biological systems and explain the health implications of an enlarging child 32 m tall?

We Answered:

Transpiration system:
We lose heat in proportion to our Surface Area to Volume Ratio meaning the bigger the volume the less heat is lost. This means a really big person wouldn't be able to be active without going hyperthermic.

Respiration System:
A big person would have bigger lungs to compensate and so the size of the person wouldn't affect the amount of oxygen the body can get.

Skeletal System:
If you're talking about a guy who's just really tall and not really fat then your bones wouldn't grow outwards meaning they'd be relatively thin and prone to snapping.
