For me and my two boys, I pay $276 per month for United HealthCare PPO. If it were just me, it'd be free through my job.

We just moved, and healthcare is SO much more expensive here (GA) compared with Michigan. In Michigan, I had the whole family covered (sons and husband) and it was only $160 a month for awesome insurance.

Yes, it is absolutely possible, if not likely.

That is expensive health insurance, but it often is!

Very often depedents cost a lot more than the primary insurer to have on the policy. If you have doubts, ask to see his paycheck etc. Ask for proof. But that sounds absolutely possible to me. Not much different then what it was like when I was in grad school. The primary person was cheap, to add someone onto the policy was 3-4 times the amount.

We had great health insurance for our family of 4 last year at a good price. $350 a month. Now we pay less, just $200 a month, but it SUCKS. :( It doesn't really cover anything unless we get cancer or something!

Most of the insurance costs are like this - primary, primary + spouse, primary + dependent, or primary + family. Primary + dependent is usually good for more than one child. There may be a limit to the number of dependents, but it is usually more than 1 (between 2 and 5 is common).
