I would be very surprised if Shands Hospital didn't have a program for mental health and autism. Although I am sure you know where Shands is, but just in case, it is just north of you in Alachua County at the University of Florida... which is one of the two top research and learning hospitals in the state.Although I don't know if it helps you much, but in Weston (Broward County) there is a "Dan Marino Miami Childrens Hospital" which specializes in autism (as Dan Marino has child with autism)... I know it is far but something you may want to look into...

I hear you. It's frustrating, confusing, exhausting for you and him too. You are on the right track by not giving up. I have worked with many children with severe issues and you need all the support you can get, for him and for you too. Find a counsellor you can talk to, your pastor, close friends, agencies that support families, web sites, whatever support you can find. You will find a listening ear, current information, people struggling with similar concerns. Good luck.
