Anyone have any tips on how to successfully stop smoking?

We Answered:

Start chewing gum or putting tic taks in your mouth or something that keeps your mouth busy besides cigarettes. You have to decide you need to quit for yourself, not your mom saying you should quit or your coworkers.
When you feel like you need a cigarette, go and distract yourself with something else. Go and read a book or take a bubble bath. Take your mind off of the situation.
If the information availible isn't enough to make you quit then here this:
Smoking is a very dangerous addiction. It will cause disease and or death in your lifetime if you don't make 2008 your year.
Smokers will die an average of 12 years older than nonsmokers ( do you want to have a long life???)
There is an increased risk of cancer and stroke with smoking.
Causes Larynx Cancer, Lung Cancer, Oral Cancer, Bad Breath, Stained Teeth, Hoarse Voice, smoky odor and risk to asthma to your children ( glad you are considering that in your quitting plan. It shows it has importance in your life. )
Quitting Smoking has so many benefits to your health and well being.
You should go to a website where you can connect with other smokers who are going through the same thing you are for support~ it helps to know that you're not alone...
Quit Cold turkey~ it's one of the easier methods
Stop carrying cigarettes with you...
Work on it one day at a time... don't think about tomorrow, next day, next year, your time is now.
Don't dwell on the fact that you are depriving yourself of a cigarette but rather that you care enough about yourself to try and fix your problems.
Be proud that you are not smoking!
Avoid social situations which would trigger the urge to have a cigarette such as going to a bar.
Make a list of the positives of quitting and when you want a cigarette get out the list.
Drink Fruit juice the first few days as well as veggies.
Practice deep breathing exercises when you have a craving.
If you encounter problems and stresses in your life assure yourself that smoking will not fix the problem but probably make it worse!
I hope that I have helped you!
Best Wishes,
Molly

Any health tips please?

The one and only method to remain reliably cool in very hot weather is air conditioning. All other methods are only partially useful and rapidly become useless as temperatures increase.

Fans will not cool your building. You have to actively remove heat from the building to cool it. Air conditioning does this. A fan actually adds heat to the air (from the moving blades and motor). It may feel cool at first because it helps you to evaporate sweat, which cools you down, but as the sweat evaporates, the temperature and humidity in the building increase, and if you don't have air conditioning to remove it, it will eventually become unbearable, no matter how much you sweat and no matter how powerful the fans are. This is inevitable due to the laws of physics; there is no way to get around it.

High heat is dangerous. You can bundle up against cold, but there's nothing you can do against heat. Drinking water helps you replace water that you lose by sweating, but it doesn't actually cool you down in itself. Sweating for long periods is very exhausting, and if the temperature and/or humidity are too high, and/or air movement is too low, sweating will not suffice, and you risk developing hyperthermia (heatstroke).

If the temperature goes too high, the only safe option is to cease working. In a children's nursery, where you cannot simply send the children elsewhere, bringing in portable air conditioners is the only safe option. Children are more vulnerable to extremes of heat and cold than adults (although adults are far more vulnerable to heat than they realize).

Drinking and ice cream and fans will not help beyond a certain point. You must air condition or stop your activities in the hot environment.

Heatstroke can develop rapidly and insidiously, so beware. By the time you recognize what it is, it may be too late to do anything about it. And heatstroke damages your ability to think clearly, so you might not realize what's happening before you pass out. Sometimes the first obvious symptom is a convulsion.

Unfortunately, as heat waves become more common everywhere, people in places that haven't been that hot before have no clue about how dangerous heat can be. They struggle with fans and drinks, and try to be good soldiers because they're afraid of being ridiculed if they refuse to work in the heat, and then sometimes they get heatstroke and die. You wouldn't work in a nursery where it's only a few degrees above freezing, so you shouldn't work in an environment where it's many degrees above a safe temperature.

In your case, you should press your management to install air conditioners. The potential liability if a child or employee passes out and ends up in the hospital (or worse) greatly outweighs the cost of renting some air conditioners.

Some tips for the parents for the growing up children. Is this a good article?

It's an ok article, but for most parents it would be like preaching to the converted.

Vegetarian with a non-vegetarian spouse/children? Tips on dealing with mealtime!?

We Answered:

Some suggestions:

Make veggie pasta with two sauces, one with meat, one without. Or add the meat at the end, after you've allocated some for yourself.

Meat with a couple of hearty side dishes. You just eat larger portions of the side dishes.

Make a big salad with protein sources, and with diced chicken on the side.

Make a frozen beef or chicken patty for him, and a bocca burger for yourself.
