Diploma In Child Health Courses

Salvador Said:

What would i need to get into Uni?

We Answered:

Typically when you take a year course diploma course you are going to attempt to get a job in these fields after you are done taking the classes and not go back to college. The vast majority of people who do this don't feel college is for them and so they get some kind of trade school experience under their belt and head out into the "real" world. If you want to attend a four year university do some research on which colleges you are interested in and then go to their website and submit an application for acceptance. When you submit that application you can send in your SAT/ACT information and you'll need to write a decent essay as well. If your GPA is in the range of 2.8-3.5+ you can get into a college without taking these courses. To do some research on different colleges that you might be interested in go to www.collegeboard.com and type the name of the college in the search box and hit enter.

Why Do I Get Depressed?

We Answered:

Hi Soph,

It's gotta be tough dealing with these issues. You can get some help with them! Start with your general practioner; he or she can make further recommendations as needed. Don't be too hasty to jump on the medication bandwagon.

Best wishes! Are these feelings you can discuss with your parents?

Nursing? Different Types?

We Answered:

Unfortunately you cannot do a general nursing course, the nearest to 'general nursing' would be adult nursing. As soon as your 17 you can apply to do nursing, even without Alevels or a BTEC as long as you have 5 gcses (although each university is different this is the general requirement for the Nursing Diploma)

When you start any branch of nursing (Be it Learning disability, Mental Health, Adult or Child.) Your first year is exactly the same and you are placed in a variety of settings (IE if you applied for Adult Nursing, you would do Child, LD and MH placements too) setting no matter what branch you applied for, and then you specialize in your own subject the next two years after that.

If you are 17, you could apply through clearing and possibly get a place for Nursing in September. Also Uni's usually have another intake date in January-March.

I think you should apply for Adult Nursing and after your first year you can switch to another branch after you've done your different placements (That's what I'm doing, btw I'm only 17 and didn't take A-levels).

Good luck! x

Which department in Australia do you think I should contact?

We Answered:

Yes your first contact would be The Department of Early Childhood and Education, if you don't get any where with them, contact your local Minister for Education as they are meant to have all the answers for this kind of thing. Good luck and I hope you get well soon.
