You should contact a local agent that works with all of the major companies in your area. The agent can work with you to find the best plan for your situation and budget. They can answer all of your questions and can explain what you get and, more importantly, what you don't get with the policy. There is no extra charge using an agent.

You're right, a private policy won't pay for maternity without a wait; most private policies won't cover maternity, PERIOD.

Stick with what you ahve through work. Or start job hunting, for a job where the employer pays a bigger chunk of the insurance bill.
