Child development in 3.5 year old?

We Answered:

Hello... I am a nurse and maybe i can answer it correctly. when i was still a student, we had a clinical rotation which was about human growth and development. And at that time, we were taught by our clinical instructor on how to administer MMDST or the metro manila developmental screening test.this test is developed for health professionals but this is not an intelligence test. It is a screening instrument to determine if the child's development is within normal. this will test the four aspects of development namely; Personal-social, Fine-motor adaptive, Language and Gross motor behavior.

If you're child is 3.5 years old, then, he must be able to accomplish the following items:

plays interactive games
buttons up
washes and dries hands
dresses with supervision
separates from mother easily
copies +
copies o
imitates bridge of cubes
tower of 8 cubes
comprehends cold, hot, tired, hungry,
comprehends three prepositions
uses plurals
gives 1st and last name
hops on 1 foot
catches bounced ball
balances on 1 foot for 1 second

basing on you're given objective cues, you're child has many developmental delays. but don't worry, there are ways to enhance your child’s skills. But first, you have to ask help from a pediatrician.

Women who took child development class.(10 POINTS)?

We Answered:

I haven't taken the class in school, but I had the experience with my two eldest children who did take classes which required them to take care of a robot baby for a week and weekend. I think it was an eyeopener for both my son and daughter, at least in exactly what parenting is about. They studied basic child care and development, parenting skills, budgeting, menu building, cooking, shopping and all the skills you need for life on your own without Mom and Dad. Baby weekend was hilarious both times, although I don't imagine they found it that way once the new wore off. Seeing my son patting and singing to the little robot baby in the wee hours of the morning to get it to stop crying was worth waking at that hour myself. Watching my daughter moan about missing out on a trip to the movie because she couldn't afford both movie and babysitter was also priceless. Both of them came away much wiser about the true responsibilities involved in having a child, and by the end of the class I think they were both prepared for life without mom. True, it didn't teach them everything, but it did open their eyes to a lot of things they realized they would have to pick up for themselves. It certainly got them to become more involved in the daily running of the house, that's for sure. As far as what they learned about being teenagers, I think that wasn't as valuable to them. I had studied child development for my Masters, and we'd had a lot of those discussions, and they read my books and such- so I don't think there were many revelations there. Ditto for the sex ed stuff, which we'd already covered as well. But if you don't have those discussions with your own folks, and haven't had much experience dealing with babies, then it can be really helpful. There is a lot more to the care and feeding of children of all ages than most folks realize. I actually think perhaps you should have to have the class and qualify for a parent liscence before you get old enough to get married or have kids. That would certainly solve a good many problems, and we'd be a lot better prepared for life on our own. So I hope you enjoy your class a lot, and do have fun with robo-baby. It will be funny for your folks, even if you don't laugh at the time. Later on, it will give you some good memories, and you may learn to laugh at yourself.

If a baby is fathered by an 85 year old man , how will this effect the child's growth and development?

We Answered:

Men can make healthy babies as long as they can ejaculate!! It's not like women where, as we age, the eggs get affected and can cause birth defects like Down's

I am in a Child Development class in high school.?

We Answered:

Teach the the imortance of tooth care, such as brushing the right way, and flossing, and show pic's what there teeth could look like if they dont, give out toothbrushes or kids dental floss, or tiny tubs of tooth paste! Also you can show them how to use the floride mouth wash for little kids. Just go on the internet and google kids teeth health and find ideas there.

14 month old child development.. worrying?

We Answered:

-Sometimes babies get in the habbit of everyone holding the bottle for him/her. From now on lay baby down in the crib or wherever and give him a bottle next to him and let him mess with it to see if he can eventually get it. After a feeding, leave a tiny bit of food and a spoon, let him play with it and make messes, he will figure it out. Yes it gets messy.
-keep introducing the cup. Just because he doesnt get it right away, dont take it away and give in on a bottle. If he fusses, let him fuss, but keep showing him how it works. Do that for awhile and I'm sure he'll get the hang of a cup.
-My son throws toys around instead of plays with them. Totally normal. give him a box or tupperwear, I can bet he'll play with those over the toys.
-Not all children walk at exactly one. Some children dont even walk until 18 months. My oldest didnt walk until 15 months. Thats very normal. Just keep encouraging him.

So many moms compare their children to their friends children or any older children they have. Here is the secret, ALL children are different and progress differently. Even if they are siblings. So what if he has four older siblings that walked at one, it does not mean he will do it at the same time or earlier. My two kids are 13 months apart, very very very very different in every way. My older sister walked early and did everything early, I did everything averagely or late because I am a procrastinator. Thats just how it is. I wouldnt worry about it.

Now if two months go by and baby still will not learn anything new at all then I would call the doctor and see what to do next. At this point I Think everything is fine.
