Perry Said:

What are some good topics in writing an article about Scienceand Health?

We Answered:

Dental Hygiene. It's never too early to teach kids good dental hygiene habits and lots of adults could learn from brushing their teeth more often.

Is it really that terrbile for kids to be raised vegans (NOT health-wise)?

We Answered:

No, it's not terrible. There are a ton of vegetarian families where I live (most of them for religious reasons) and their kids are so healthy and full of life. They aren't obese and they actually have energy to get out and play (well part of that is probably from them not having tv either lol). I plan on raising my kids vegetarian/semi-vegan. I will cook mostly vegan meals at home but they can have dairy and eggs on rare occasions if they choose too (I don't think these foods are all that healthy) like cake and ice cream at another kid's birthday or something. When they are teenagers and old enough to understand what meat is and where it comes from and that it is a dead animal, then they can choose if they want to put that into their diet, because I realize they will have their own morals and minds by then.

But I just watched that preview of the Jamie Oliver special where he showed the kids eating all this grease like chicken nuggets and sausage pizza for breakfast and I can't see how the joy of eating something that destroys your health is better than the joy the kids will get from being fit and healthy and active. When you put that much emotion into food it signifies a problem to me, and I say that as someone who overcame an eating disorder. Food is for nourishment and energy, not memories and emotional needs.
