Health Child Obesity

Gladys Said:

Do you think having an seriously overweight child can be a form of child abuse?

We Answered:

I totally agree with you 100% I think parents should really think about what they went through as a kid and want better for their children and their selves. I think schools should teach healthy live and cooking and exercise, if the parent are not going to teach them then someone should.

What are some of the Factors and Health Consequences of Childhood Obesity.?

Stella Said:

what are some theories/models behind child obesity?

We Answered:

I believe it is a lack of care from the parent in advising the child in what to eat and an extreme lack of self respect for the self by the child. Not all food types suit individual metabolisms and so this is a concerning factor because different foods are stored differently and digested differently in various body types. The more they are advised wrongly and have the wrong lifestyle by not exercising the worse it gets. They say the body changes every 7 years however, the obese child is continuously packing their body with saturated fat and never gives its body a chance to burn any of it off. Television, internet and computer games are a massive distraction and i think actually worsen the situation and encourage laziness. Along with, the market industry and advertising in being very clever at selling their products and packing the supermarket shelves with ready meals and processed rubbish food with absolutely no nutritional value. Other than the idea of mass production on a cheap level. Overall, i think the media is to blame and no effort by the individual, unsurprisingly because of sluggishness due to their obesity. It is a downward spiral my friends.

Scott Said:

Why Child is Trained to Love Sweet Calorie Rich Food When We Know That It Causes Obesity & Health Problems?

We Answered:

Yeah its just that its the older generation of parents that seem oblivious to it mostly, and the younger generation of parent that don't take it serious enough.

I would say the older generation would always give in to their grand-kids sweet-tooth, and would stand by their own 'legendary' veteran cooking skills that they have achieved over the years.

Then the younger generation of mothers believe that it isn't that serious and that they will burn it off. For both generations it seems a bit too young to push health beliefs into their head.

It is a growing concern, considering that obesity in the UK has tripled since the 1980's.

However we have to remember that being a parent is stressing, and many time we just want to give into the child to keep it happy, and this might entail giving him/her foods that are high in calories, to lets say keep the child happy. Also i would say that many would see it as harsh to deprive a child of things, and could make a hypocrite of themselves unless they follow the same strict food rituals.

Denial would be the biggest factor i would say. I believe many would refuse to accept the seriousness of the implications, but i do think that it does have to be publicized to inform children from a younger age.
