You need to get it xrayed and they will confirm it. Then they will just bind it to the one one beside it and you will have to stay off it for a few weeks. Don't leave it as it may set crooked. And don't be afraid. I broke my toe a few months ago and was freaked out about what would happen, but they just set it in a splint and that was that. In fact it was great because everyone came to help me with things and I just sat around with my feet up.

Sticking to the headline of your question : - yes the UK is doomed - for all the reasons that you've stated. And the bad news is - its going to 'get worse' - there is just no way we can 'recover' from all the domestic troubles that we have. Thats not refering to the Banking crisis on its own - that in time will recover - it always does - but as I've said - the domestic troubles are with us forever. Its just like being on a sinking ship - we all know whats going to happen - and theres nothing 'we' (public) can do about it.

We in the UK don't have 1 politician who 'understands' whats needed to put this country right - not one. All comming up with their 'own hair brained' idea as to what to do - and all being wrong every single time.!! Allowing the 'wrecthed EU' to govern and control us all the time - its 'light bulbs' this time - we can't have the type we've had since for ever - no - we have to have what the EU says.

Unless we can find a 'saviour' (and we haven't found one yet) who fully understands whats needed to make this country great again - then as you suggest............we are doomed - god help us all.

I've seen ridiculous amounts of propaganda on here against 'communist' health care. It's working for pretty much every other first world country out there, and I definitely do not see those people complain at the level that Americans complain about their health care.

Not to mention that health benefits for everyone would free up emergency rooms. In addition it improves the health of the country as a whole, which improves the economy as well.

One can study a number of government run systems in any Western European country and Canada. Those are models that have successfully been working for years, and despite what the propaganda here says, their citizens would never trade our system for yours.
