Rights are those things that stem from your self-ownership. You own yourself, therefore you have the right to liberty. You own yourself, and you have the right to liberty, so you own the product of your time and labor. How can health care be a right if health care depends on other people being able to provide that service to you? Are people saying that doctors owe them? Since we're "owed" health care because it is our right, why should we have to pay? I guess that as generous as we all are, we pay taxes and ask the government to compensate doctors, nurses and hospitals what we deem 'fair.'

The doctor owns his life, his liberty, and his labor. He should be able to set his own terms. You do not have the RIGHT to his services, no more than anyone else has the right to demand that you provide a service for whatever he or she is willing to pay you.

I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it?
Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2].
Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this [3].
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4].
FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [5].
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [6].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage.
If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.

Taking the kids away from their abusive environment was an excellent move, however unfortunately even children as young as 6 & 3 pick up on what is going on around them and learn to manipulate people as they see it being done around them. It sounds like you have been a fantastic mum and tried to do everything for him that you possibly could. It however also sounds as though your son is manipulating you using guilt as his weapon. I would suggest that you keep the thought to yourself about telling him he is right with regards to not having had him, because that then will give him another weapon to us

First, tell him that until this is resolved, you won't talk with him - his communication needs to be in writing or go through your attorney.

Next, invest a few dollars in a good telephone. I have one made by Uniden where I can choose a ringtone for each different number, and I can even choose not to have some numbers ring at all.

One of you should have the final say on medical treatment per your custody agreement. If not, make sure that's the case in your new agreement.

If need be, file a restraining order.
