KIDS FITNESS????Im about to start afitnees/health Website for kids. I am open to ANY SUGGESTIONS??? ANY Ideas? We Answered:
Email me and let us talk. Please include nutrition and food information. Our children are fed terrible foods and their health is suffering. Besides being horribly overweight from fast foods, our children by the age of 3 and 4 already have fatty deposits in their arteries and asthma and diabetes is 10x higher than it was just a few years ago (from bad diets) and our children by the age of 7-10 are in the first stages of hardening of the arteries (an elderly disease) from diet.lynarts@flash.net
And the only exercise they get is from pushing a button on a machine. Our schools do not offer good food diets or Physical Education anymore. Vending machine cover the halls ways and by lunch our students have consumed several sodas, or candy bars and their immune systems are totally shut down.

ANY SUGGESTIONS????(Kids Fitness)?We Answered:
Kids can be pretty easy for fitness. If you're aiming towards younger kids, go for something fun, but something that will keep them fit at the same time.
Kids have no idea how much excersize they're really doing when they're playing, and it makes it a whole lot easier.
Also have Nutrition information, one thing I know is that some parents just don't really know what damage some of the junk foods out there are doing to kids.

What was the name of that kids show with the guy wearing a spandex suit that looked like the human body?We Answered:
The character in question is Slim Goodbody. There have been several series featuring the character since the late Seventies (he first appeared in health and fitness segments on the original "Captain Kangaroo" in 1977-78).All of the various shows were on health, fitness and safety topics. From your question, you were thinking of a 1986 exercise series called "All Fit with Slim Goodbody" which had him and a group of kids (and a similarly-costumed female character named Slenda) performing exercise routines around a giant sneaker prop.

Should obese kids be taken from their families by CPS to improve their health? See link below...?We Answered:
This is very tricky, because, at first I'm thinking to myself that the government shouldn't be allowed to remove children from their parents based on obesity. Then I'm thinking that, if the parents are really the ones causing the problem and the problem has become very dangerous for the child, then that is a form of child neglect or even possibly abuse.I think that sometimes social services gets carried away and removes a child from a home and asks questions later. We've all heard horror stories of blameless parents who lost their child(ren) and took years to recover them once a person or persons in social services had made up their mind about the case and that the parents were to blame.
However, we have all heard even more stories where children "fell between the cracks" and were horribly abused, neglected and even died or were intentionally killed by parents.
I wouldn't like to see something like this get way out of control, like two or three decades ago when some child caregivers were accused of abusing children and even spent years in jail before finally being exonerated. Turned out that social services were (most likely without malice) giving cues to the small children that made them agree that they had been touched inappropriately, etc. Just recently, there was the taking of lots of children from polygamists. Now, polygamy is against the law and I'm not defending it, but it turns out that the government had no right to take the children and had to return them. The incident was triggered by one anonymous telephone call and that was definitely an overreaction to take the kids without some further investigation.
The article you cited above says that this proposal would only take place after really everything else had been tried. I don't really like the government having more control over our lives, especially the ability to take our children. However, if a child's life is being endangered by incredible obesity and the evidence is absolutely incontrovertible that the parents are continuing to feed the child inappropriately, and the child is getting worse, not making any progress (children should be placed on diets where they lose weight slowly from what I've heard) then someone does need to step in.
If the child is old enough, perhaps the family could be educated as a whole.
This is a very good question for discussion. My final vote is that social services should be able to step in and remove a child for a time, until health is improved, and the family establishes sounder eating and exercise habits. The slippery slope here is, as always, who is making those determinations....let us pray that it would be intelligent and fair-minded individuals with a manageable caseload.

How can I start a fitness and health diet program at school? We Answered:
Perhaps you could suggest to your principal that your school could develop a lunchtime program where students could discuss fitness and health issues. This program could also be integrated into any existing P.E. program.I think issues such as promoting good health through fitness and diet can be made to appeal to all students. Guest speakers could be brought in to speak on a variety of topics.Students could have a suggestion box and put in requests for possible topics.Does your school have an after school cooking club? This could be another option for learning how to be creative with meals that are nutritious and satisfying. If you have a written proposal to submit to your principal your idea will be taken more seriously.By the way I would omit the part about people blocking the hall if you want them to read your proposal. Good luck
