I think much of the world looks upon the Wests child rearing practices with amused disdain.

Second hand smoke Quiz?

We Answered:

If second hand smoke was as dangerous as people believe it is, there would be nobody alive in their 50s and 60s.
You can't get asthma from smoking or from someone smoking. It is a genetic disorder.
My father smoked 3 packs a day around my sister and I, plus we had 3 grandparents smoke around us too. We turned out normal healthy kids. We didn't have any breathing problems, asthma, or any of that bs that people think happens to kids with parents who smoke.
Given the choice would you rather spend an evening in a room with 20 smokers or in a closed garage with a running car? Try them both, then come back, and let me know which is worse.

What are your thoughts on this?

We Answered:

I am a big proponent of natural birth, breastfeeding and co-sleeping. It seems blatantly obvious to me that separation of mothers and babies is abnormal and hugely stressful to the infant, and usually the mother as well - assuming she is not a complete nutter.

Unfortunately, most seem afraid to make the obvious assertion that separation is harmful and instead speak of the mother-infant bond in "inclusive" terms like "primary care giver."

I think it is a huge turn-off that researchers are unable to make the connection, or maybe fear being blatant in stating the obvious.
