Michigan Child Health Insurance

Margaret Said:

Pregnant wife and children qualify for medicaid in Michigan, can I drop my employer insurance and enroll?

We Answered:

Some states will allow her to get medicaid coverage for only the pregnancy, if you do not drop your employer coverage (medicaid would cover the pregnancy and the employer insurance would cover everything else). I am not sure if medicaid is one of them.

Medicaid is meant for someone who cannot have employer coverage, not for someone who decides not to have employer coverage, so I doubt you could get medicaid if you decided to group employer coverage, especially if you dropped it for the purpose of getting medicaid.

Hilda Said:

How can I get the word out about Michigan's Wayne County Friend of the Court ignorance?

We Answered:

You just did...

..but you could send some emails to local tv, radio and print news outlets.

You won't exactly get Paris Hilton attention, but somebody might follow it up.

Audrey Said:

The minor child of the Biological father is covered in Michigan under his step dads health Insurance now if?

We Answered:

It shouldn't matter to what state the minor child travels to. He will still be covered by the health insurance. Yes, the father should have a copy of the insurance card, but even without it he would be covered. It would just make the process go so much easier if a visit had to be made to a doctor or medical facility with the card, of course.

A lot of health insurance companies these days do have restrictions about which doctors you can go to, etc., but if it's an emergency it will be covered. You might want to call the health insurance company and question them about the details.

Joseph Said:

How much does it cost to purchase health insurance for a baby?

We Answered:

It's almost impossible to buy coverage for a new baby, that includes the well baby care.

A good, low/no deductible plan, is going to cost around $150 a month fo rher child.

Gina Said:

family lost health care insurance, michigan resident, 1 1/2 yr old, congenital heart defect.?

We Answered:

Get in touch with your states health care. There is state supported health care offered in some states. I live in Illinois and we have social workers that get this for patients who come in to the hospital w/o any health care insurance. Good luck.
