Nj Child Health

Olga Said:

Does the NJ Family Health Care cover braces?

We Answered:

It depends on which county and which plan you pick.
I looked up BlueCross/BlueShield .. page 18 of the member handbook says yes - orthodontic services are covered for children under 19. (link to handbook below)

There are 4 different plans, there are different levels of coverage, and each county has the option to create a separate plan. I'd have to assume most plans are similar, but you should check with the PCP Dentist to make sure. Any work will need to be coordinated through Primary Care Doc or Dentist anyhow.

NJ is relatively large.. you could drive more than 3 hours North-South (even speeding).
Check with the local Primary Care Doc/Dentist - they can give you a list of possible docs and they can make a recommendation.
If you want others to help you pick from a list, get more info first - at least the county/city where she is, and how easily she can travel.

** double check that your daughter is still eligible; NJ just changed a lot of criteria and kicked out a huge percentage of people who were eligible before. Again - primary care doc should be able to help if you don't know where to call.. see if there is a phone number on the back of card, but be prepared to wait on hold.

Good luck!

Aside from the obvious what else falls under "child abuse" to you?

We Answered:

I believe in the physical and mental abuse, i also think that no one should smoke in an area (car or house) wher a child is under 16 (as our law is 16 to smoke), i dont think parents should be prosecuted for obese or thin children, we do have a life, at this rate the goverment will over take us and be telling us how to eat, when to eat and what to eat, what kind of life is that...My child will be giving 3 meals a day, with 5 veg and fruit, and on the odd occassion she will be allowed a treat, what is the harm in this...as long as parents arnt abusing them by shoving sweets to them for ease or takeaways every night then i dont see the prob...The food i ate when i was younger is stil on market and it done no harm to me...they say anythin to rule ur life, this world has been takin over so much, soon ul need a licence to leave ur house and ur everymove wil be watched...y cant ppl just let us live like it was 10yrs ago!!!

I need to know if there is free health coverage for children and pregnant women in NJ?

We Answered:

Yes, call the dept. of social services and make an appointment to sign up for it. Alsom WIC gives food and formula for mom's and babies up to five years old.

Sherri Said:

Is there any low cost Health care for NJ indivual?

We Answered:

Unfortunately 'low cost' and 'New Jersey' don't go in the same sentence. If you lived in a bordering state to the west or south you'd be fine.
