North Carolina Child Health Insurance

Julio Said:

health insurance for child?

We Answered:

Is the child healthy? If so, look for a PPO plan. Specifically, a HDHP plan. It stands for High Deductible Health Plan. Don't be fooled by the title, its an IRS definition. These plans provide the best coverage for major sicknesses or injuries, which should be the main concerns for a healthy person. The High Deductible will give you a lower premium. This makes it affordable, and gives the most coverage when you need it the most.

Don't worry about copays and all that other crap. Insurance companies bury the cost for your copays in the premium anyways. People assume that copays are such a great benefit. The only problem is, that you already are paying for the office visit and prescription in your premium.

You can find a plan like this for less than $100.00 a month, depending on the age of the child.

I have a question regarding health insurance?

We Answered:

She does not need an insurance agent. She needs to contact North Caroline Social Services to determine what state programs are available to help her and her child.

The web address is www.ncdhhs.gov/dss.

Alfredo Said:

Will my husband get custody of my son? He lives with his parents and has no job? I provide health insurance?

We Answered:

If you have the children now, they'll most likely stay with you. Unless you are an abusive or unfit parent it is highly unlikely that you will lose custody. Do speak with a lawyer though.

Out of State Health insurance?

We Answered:

Medicaid is run on a state by state basis, so you'd have to check with VA Medicaid.

However, dad is being a dork. Next time you're in court, I'd bring up the issue that the insurance needs to be for the child's resident state - MOST likely, if it's with a national carrier through dad's employer, he CAN get a VA doctor assigned a primary care physician, or if he doesn't, he can STILL get benefits on an out of network basis.

i need health insurance for child in north carolina?

We Answered:

If it really is "just barely", you might want to talk to an accountant to find deductions. The accountant's fee would count for one. With enough deductions, you might be able to lower your income and get her into health choice.

Your other good option is to find employment with a company that will put her on a group.

Good luck.
