Wilma Said:

My wife is pregnant and we do not have health insurance? We are not US citizens and have zero income.?

We Answered:

Believe it or not, just because you're not a US citizen doesn't mean you don't qualify for Medicaid. Some non-citizens still qualify so you can fill out the application and if you don't qualify they'll tell you. If you don't qualify you can always talk to the hospital and tell them what you can afford. Most people don't know that medical/hospital bills are negotiable but they are, very much so, in fact. They have a whole department that is specifically for billing and they will work with you on the cost of things based on what you can pay, and they will establish payment plans if needed. Your wife can get care at a local clinic/health department for little, sometimes no, cost (based on your income, which you say is 0). She may even qualify for presumtive medicaid which will just cover her prenatal care at the clinic (you apply for it there).
Good luck.

Sue Said:

what are the ohio laws on child support?

We Answered:

Try this site just for kicks. I live in NE Ohio and know exactly how you're feeling. I've been through it. Happy to say that my ex agreed with me and filed for a stop to collecting child support. (Although, it's technically not up to the collecting parent, it's up to the child...) Ulitimately we got the child support dropped and there are no ill effects to either party. (Just for the record, she makes about $100K, I make about $40K). Child support can really be a kick in the mouth. I ALWAYS paid it on time. After all, it's for the kid, right? But according to the law, the child needs to have their own bedroom, which means a two bedroom apartment, at worst. We sold our house and I couldn't afford an apartment. I had to move back to my parent's house. That sucked. However, everything is going well now. You should be so lucky. If you have more concerns, contact a lawyer. Good luck.

Can I be covered under my parents insurance? (24-Ohio)?

We Answered:

I don't know of any insurance company that will cover you under your parents insurance once you have gradated and are 26 years old.
