Pediatric health care careers?

We Answered:

It's a bit early to define your career so narrowly, but if you persist you would: 1) attend a college with a respected pre-med program, get good grades and do well on the MCAT; 2) graduate from medical school; 3) take a three-year pediatric residency; 4) take a fellowship in intensive care medicine.

Or, after med school you could take a four or five year residency in surgery, a three-year pediatric surgery fellowship, and perhaps another year or two specializing in trauma.

The director of pediatric trauma surgery at the children's hospital in our region is a remarkable man who spends a lot of time in the community talking to teens about violence, guns, risk avoidance, decision making, etc. He is a fantastic role model.

Daniel Said:

If the Dept of Health and Human Services received a call about your child, does it stay in his record forever?

We Answered:

The call would only still exist at the DHS office not your ped. So no he should have no record of it. Lead testing is common and required at most ped offices. My son has been tested before it's standard like a vaccination. I don't think your doctor has asked any weird questions at all. I don't understand how you would close a crib? Like you mean pulling up the side rail? Maybe he was just asking cause your child is at the age to pull themselves up.

Muslims (esp. women): Should I become Pediatric nurse or Genetic Counselor? Please help?

We Answered:

You need to ask yourself which of the two would create more good in the world, and help the most amount of people. No one can choose for you,my best advice is to pray about it,and ask Allah to guide you to which is better for your life and trust him in the proccess.
