I used to go to conservative churches that teach that abstinence crap, and I learned that the leaders of these churches actually crack jokes about 30 and 40 year-old virgins behind their backs. Now I just send my Christian friends to the site below which debunks the whole thing against premarital sex in the Bible. It covers same-sex lifestyles too. I hope it helps you.

Men have far fewer reproductive health issues than women. Women are much more likely to have problems at a young age than men. Also, men can see most of their reproductive organs and are much more likely to recognize when there is a problem than women. All our stuff is hidden. When people get to be about 50, things even out again. Men start getting their prostate checked and all kinds of other things.

My take on it is that many latin teens are Catholic and their parents have not had any kind of meaningful conversations with them about birth control because the Catholic religion does not believe in any other type of birth control than the rhythm method and abstinence (which isn't working).
