Kevin Said:

Is my grade point average still good to become a doctor?

We Answered:

middle school doesn't really count.. i mean its good that your getting those grades but what colleges really look at is high school grades. keep up the good work though because you can get in AP and advanced classes in high school which looks really good on your college application

What is the big deal for someone to become a doctor?

We Answered:

Once upon a time, before HMOs, being a doctor was a really big deal, indicating that the person was brilliant AND filthy rich, too!

Nowadays, not so much, but, since she's a Grandma, she's older and she's remembering what it was like to be a doctor back then, not the reality of what it's like now, that's all.

If i join the air force can i become a doctor?

We Answered:

You will be surprised how many Doctors started their careers as Enlisted Military members.

What you need to realize is that the Military will not give you the training to become a doctor. You will need to get your education on your own.

If you enter the Military, you would use the Tuition Assistant program (where the military pays 75% of your tuition) while you are on Active Duty. Once your out of the Military, use the GI Bill Program to complete whatever else you need for your PreMed degree and acceptance into a Medical School.

As a Prior Air Force Recruiter, I use to recuit Officers and fully qualified Medical Officers. This also included recruiting for Medical School Scholarships.

I could go on and on but the following web site really gives a good description of the program.

What schools offer degree programs to become a doctor?

We Answered:

It depends on which country you live in. In the US, to become a doctor, first you need to get a 4-year bachelors degree. Major in anything and take the premed classes in bio, chem, physics, math, and English. You can do this at any 4-year college or university. Then you apply to medical school at a different university. You can easily find lists of them online. That's another 4 years. And then after that you've got 3+ years of residency at another university/hospital (training).

What qualification do I need to become a doctor?

We Answered:

Your Math skills should be strong, given that you are an Accountant. You can probably get a lot of life credit which would cut down the time spent on earning a BS. You really do need a BS to go to Medical School. And don't poo poo what you did in high school. You could probably test out of the basic Science classes, which would give you more credits towards a BS. I'm a Lawyer and I decided that I wanted to be a Veterinarian. When it's all said and done, it will only take me two years to get a four year degree. Because, I've done them before. I think this also applies to you. Have you applied and been accepted any where? Talk with an Academic Counselor and they will steer you in the right direction.
