Cat Doctor Online

Regina Said:

My Cat is sick ,please help?

We Answered:

Eating grass is actually a good sign that he is trying to heal himself. Let him do this! It causes them to vomit, and he can potentially throw up whatever is in his tummy.

Try to get him to drink water. If he will not drink it on his own, use a baby syringe to get it into his mouth. Since he has been sick for this long and is not drinking or urinating, he probably needs the water very badly.

He may have a urinary tract infection, struvite (which my cat has), or being poisoned. Do not let him outside without supervision. Make sure he drinks. Only feed him dry food (wet food can further infections or struvite).

Keep him happy, warm, and dry. Give him lots of extra love. A bath might help, but be sure to dry him off right afterwards and if he panics, stop the bath.

Whatever you do, do NOT give him milk. Milk is poisonous to cats, and since he is already sick, his tolerance may be even lower.

Do ask around about any vets or doctors who would be willing to at least look at him. Even if it is not their specialty, a medical background could be quite helpful. Good luck on that front!

He is a beautiful cat, and I hope he gets better soon!

Don Said:

finding Online doctors?

We Answered:

There are many websites for health and medicine, the most popular being WebMd (www.webmd.com). Do a web search for "medical information" or "ask a doctor". Try searching for some of the big hospital websites like the Mayo Clinic, Johns-Hopkins, New York University School of Medicine, Massachussets General, UCLA, Cedars-Sanai. That should get you started.

Remember, when looking at conditions and their symptoms, try to match as many of your mother's symptoms to the condition.

Very upset about CAT scan to head that was unneeded in ER room?

We Answered:

Don't worry, the occasional CAT scan won't increase your risk of developing any cancers. On the one hand it does seem rather expensive and excessive to have ordered a scan based on the absence of symptoms, but then why did you go to the ER in the first place if you were OK? I'm wondering whether the doctor may have noticed some neurological signs that you didn't experience as a symptom and that may have been a reason for the scan. Doctors don't always tell you right away what they suspect because they don't want to alarm you unnecessarily. It seems that you are fine in any case so please don't worry about the occasional unnecessary test; this is better than not testing and then having problems later due to delayed treatment. Best wishes.

We Answered:

You should read more in to the cat Scan you have to have them a lot over the period of a long time you have to get one like once a week for 5 years the machines now a days have less radiation then they used to they use the minimal now the same amount of radiation comes out of your microwave, really! I know they did not telly you that on the web site because they don't want you to know that your miro wave sends out radiation your fine for now the next time just ask more questions ask them if it is necessary and if you really need it to be as for the consequences if you don't get it done sorry for the spelling lol

hope this helps

What does it mean if my cat has leaky eye?

We Answered:

Have you vaccinated it? Because some illnesses related to leaking eyes are because of the lack of a specific vaccine.Another option is that the cat may have hurt its eye and it needs some days to stop and to be healed. If these are not responsible for this condition there is not alternative choice but to visit a vet

I got bit by my cat, and now I think it's infected. Should I go to the doctor?

We Answered:

YES. immediatly go to the hospital for antibiotics and make an appointment with your doctor. Cats have TONS of bacteria in their mouths. I just took a microbiology course (the study of bacteria/viruses) and my microbiology teacher specifically told us that if you get bit by a cat then to go to the hospital/doctors immediately or it could get really infected and then they'll have to get the area amputated. My teacher told us this because one of her friends got bit in the foot by a cat and she thought nothing of it until the infection got so bad that the doctors had to amputate her foot off. So please please please go get help right now.
