Complaints About Doctors
Katherine Said:
Is there a way for me to find out information regarding complaints about dentists or doctors? We Answered:
Usually, a state dental board maintains a website that lists practitioners who have been disciplined for various reasons. Search your state government's websites-- Sometimes it's under the department of health, sometimes it's under the department of education (that handles licensure issues).Hope this helps.
Hazel Said:
is it correct to complaint about doctors? We Answered:
In every profession you have to suffer the consequences, if you make a mistake (even an honest one). Considering that the doctor holds the life of a patient in his hands, it becomes more imperative that he remains error free. Why do we at all think of making an exception in their case.Phillip Said:
Doctors Surgeries - UK - who is effectively 'in charge'?We Answered:
Practice managers are employees of the GP's, who are still generally mostly independent contractors. All practices must have a formal complaints policy, which should be available in writing. All complaints about a GP or practice must go to the named complaints officer. This may be the manager, but is sometimes a GP partner. If they are not resolved 'in house' to the satisfaction of the complainant they are then generally passed to the complaints officer of the local Trust.Agnes Said:
How many people have filed a complaint on a emergency room doctor? We Answered:
Sorry, I have not filed a complaint but as this is information that is pertinent to your question I felt I needed to reply. I think that it is totally unfair that if you have surgery and it does not turn out right the doctors will drug you up for pain and make you dopey just so you are not capable of filing a complaint. I think that if you are taking medication for pain due to them then the statute of limitations should NOT be till after you are no longer taking medication. Some doctors WILL drug you up to shut you up and it is a crime. They have a two year statute of limitation and that is so very wrong. It ought to be 5 years.Nina Said:
Looking for how many people feel that doctors complaints should be visible to the public? We Answered:
Doctors place our lives in their hands.. I COMPLETELY agree that any complaints should be publicly known, so that we know to avoid these doctors, or so that those such doctors are forced to charge less, and people who can't afford good doctors can take their risk with these cheap doctors. Of course it would be even better if all good doctors were affordable, but this isn't a utopia, and the main point of this is, yes, the public should know how bad the doctor they're seeing is.Richard Said:
Does anyone know how to find out if a doctor has any complaints against him?We Answered:
Search for your state's board of medicine. Most states now have information on their websites about that allow you to search for doctors who are licensed to practice medicine in that state, and whether they have ever had any public disciplinary action taken against them. Some also provide information about whether the doctor has been subject to any malpractice claims. However, read the disclaimers carefully, because some of the information may have been reported by the doctor himself, so it is subject to falsification or exaggeration.
