The first thing to consider is whether you have a cavity or cavities or an abscess. To find out you must go to the dentist. Once that possibility is eliminated, consider if you have sinus trouble. Buy some Olbas Oil and inhale it with steam. If that helps, that may be the answer.

There is another possibilty, something I have. It's atypical facial pain. The cause is unknown but it's common in people who suffer migraine, as I do. I had it diagnosed by a hospital consultant and the treatment is low dosage amitryptiline, a drug usually used to treat depression. It's prescription only in the UK (and probably most other countries). I find it very effective.

Your clarification makes a difference. Yes, I'm sure that your pain relates to the root canal. Monitor your temperature, the swelling and sight through the eye. If you get a definite fever, the swelling gets much worse or your sight is affected, treat this as an emergency. It may be that the cause of the swelling is an allergic reaction or an infection. Antibiotics will only help with a bacterial infection if bacteria are the infective agent and they are compliant to the drug involved.

To deal with the pain in the short-term, take paracetamol (acetaminophen) and aspirin OR ibuprofen. Aspirin and ibuprofen cannot be mixed but either will work with paracetamol in synergy. If you're not taking drugs contra-indicated, you might like to try an over the counter antihistamine, such as Clarityn, to counter any allergic reaction. The swelling may also respond to a cold pack but don't make it too cold because it'll hurt on the face.

you should go see another doc. not online advice. Online they are not going to be able to see if there is a cyst or how big it is. I had a cyst and it was so big they had to take it out and it coverd my whole ovary so thy had to take that too.If you feel uncertain than get a 2nd opinion. You have that right.good luck

Noone can definitively tell you over the internet or phone or anything without actually seeing the specimen and cross cutting it to look at it under the microscope and see what the cells are. And I believe they found a "lesion" not a liasson. Lesion is a fancy word for tumor.
