Doctor Of Naturopathy
Eva Said:
What is the difference between Ayurvedic and Doctor of Naturopathy & what degrees are offered in New Zealand? We Answered:
There are quite a few differences, but it is possible for them to overlap. Ayurvedic practitioners are essentially Herbalists following Indian traditions of preparing and using herbs (although most preparations have been updated as far as making sure they are safe, properly extracted, clean, etc). A properly accredited program would cover a lot about the herbs and other aspects of Biology and whatnot.Naturopathy on the other hand looks at helping the whole body from a variety of angles... herbs are one of the many tools they use, but not the only. Because of that, a Naturopath may use Ayurvedic herbs among other things to heal a patient, but Ayurvedic doctors wouldn't use as many of the tools that Naturopaths would.
They are both specialists in natural options, but Ayurvedic is more focused on intensive education about herbs and their use while Naturopathy would cover less about herbs and more about other things. It's like comparing a skin doctor to a general MD, really. I hope this helps!

If a person received their (N.D.) Doctor of Naturopathy are they considered a practitioner? We Answered:
It completely depends on the state you choose to practice in (if naturopathy is liscenced) and more importantly, if you go to an accredited naturopathy school (of which there are only 6 in the US).Those put you through a fairly difficult and rigorous training, at the end of which you are set up to be a physician.
On the other hand, there are a lot of correspondance schools/diploma mills which also give naturopathy degrees and are effectively "worthless."
However, if you wish to pursue the real naturopathy route, look up going to a college like bastyr university. (or any of the other accredited ones).
"Real" naturopathy is starting to get into the system, and is considered a real serious degree, so you're welcome to give it a shot.
Just make sure the school is real, cause it would really suck to go through all of that for naught.
Hope that helps; feel free to ask me if you have any more questions on the issue. I have a lot of friends in that field.

Why do doctors hate naturopathy? We Answered:
I am an MD.Allopathic medicine (the evidence-based medical science practiced by MDs) accepts only diagnoses and treatments that are supported by controlled scientific research. We only give advice and treatments that we can prove are effective.
MDs do not say that alternative heath remedies (naturopathy, chiropractic kineseology, etc.) are automatically shams. In each case, either the evidence supports the treatment (accupuncture is shown to help with chronic pain syndromes), it is harmful (green tea extract for weight loss can cause a stroke in patients with hypertension) or there is just no research or proof either way.
The last scenario is most common. Naturopaths often recommend treatments that have not undergone controlled trials. They make health recommendations based on personal experience, anecdotal stories, gut instinct, commonly accepted perception... anything except evidence.
In summary, MDs do not hate naturopaths. We do not trust or recommend treatments that cannot be proven to be safe and effective. The moment naturopaths agree to use only herbal remedies that have undergone controlled trials, you will see MDs starting to embrace them (and even recommend their treatments).

Naturopathy can cure cancer, aids & other serious desease but why authorities do not care?We Answered:
Because no one in the naturopathic world takes the time to document evidence and present it to the world to support their claim. Please provide your documented studies that show how many patients with these diseases survived . . and how many died and from what cause. At least so called 'alopathy (made up word by naturopathics) documents what happens to their patients through verifiable studies . . and even though it is unpopular . . they tell it like it is . . that patients die from these diseases and that there isn't a 'cure'.Beth Said:
