It could be that he is like Dr. House - a real jerk who is good at his job. Judge him based on how well he treats you, not how good he is at hand holding (a lot of those Doctors REALLY stink, let me tell you).
Anybody can have a patch of bad luck, or a fight with an administrator. He may have just been asked not to come back to that hospital - doesn't mean he's a bad Doctor (but keep your eyes open obviously).
