Buying land in Secong Life (Doctor Who stuff too)?We Answered:
1) there are a few ways of getting land. a) get a premium account and buy from linden lab. b) remain basic and get from other residents. In sl, land area determines the amount of prims you are given and it is the prims everyone is actually wants. The land, sincw it is virtual is not really owned and so you have to pay tier for it. you can look at small piece of land ranging from about 512sqm or less with 170 plus prims or less to an entire sim or island of 15,000 prims. it cost from US$5/6 a month - US$300 a month depending.2) to learn to build, you can get on youtube and watch Torley's tutorial. Many on sl learnt to build watching his stuff. And he also have tutorials on a lot of other sl stuffs like how to use the advance tab etc.
3) You can get consoles on xstreet.com or in world. setting up corridors is part of building so watching torley will be advantage.
4) if the things you bought from sxtreet are copiable, modifiable and transferable, you can copy and modify and resell them. If not, the things you put has a property tab for you to set the rights so you can sell them once you have finished building them.
4) the exchange rate is about linden $1000 - US$4.00. click on the button that has a $ next to the amount of money you have (top right corer of you sl screen) and it will show you the exchange rate at that moment and when you click on that it will give you a website to key in your particulars for credit cards or paypal. Once that is done, you can buy linden dollars with just a click of that dollar button.

More Second Life Basics-With Doctor Who stuff.?We Answered:
OK I want to redefine the words prim and rez because you are going to need to understand both.Prims are the building blocks of SL. Apart from bare land, water and the basic avatar bodies, everything you see is made out of the basic prims. Prim is short for primitive. Prims come in various shapes and can be manipulated into other shapes.
Rez is a term first used in the Disney movie Tron and it means resolution. In SL rez is sometimes incorrectly used when someone says 'rez a box on the ground'. That is creating a shape. Rez usually refers to things appearing around you - that is objects appearing and then the textures on then appearing and coming into clear resolution.
OK so land. You can by land directly from Linden Labs if you have a premium account. You can also buy land from what is called a land baron. I think the easiest way to get land is to rent it from someone and there is a lot of land up for grabs right now. Open the map and look down the right side. At the top you will see options you can turn on and one of these is land for sale. This often includes land for rent. It will appear as yellow on the map, so find something that interests you, click the mouse on that location and then select teleport from the right sidebar. When you arrive you may see a sign on the land that gives you a notecard with purchase/rent details. If not, you need to right click on the ground and look for land details from the pie menu that comes up.
There is a whole lot more to say about land in SL but answers are limited in space.
As for jobs ... well that's a lot harder. There are many jobs available in SL but none pay well and most require you to be a resident for at least a month and to have payment info on file (and yes - that is going to confuse you even more - sorry). I have done several jobs in SL and as I never felt like being a stripclub dancer or a cybersex prostitute, the jobs I chose did not make much money. Designing high quality shoes, hair or clothes makes the most money, but also requires great skill, financial investment and a lot of time. what it really comes down to, is that the cheapest and quickest way to get money in SL is to buy it.
As far as that TARDIS goes, there are many versions of TARDISs in SL. Some may fly some may not. Your best best bet would be to open search, look under groups and type in Doctor Who as your search criteria. Then join a high member group and talk to them in group chat - someone there will know. If in doubt about what something does, look for the name of the creator and send them a message. Most are more than willing to explain what their products do.
You should be able to 'rez' (in this case - drag from your inventory) a TARDIS onto the ground anywhere where there is not a yellow box icon showing at the top of the screen where it tells you what your location is. Also make sure there is not a little page icon as this means that scripts (the programming in your objects) will not work in that area. On your own land you can drag anything to the ground as long as you do not exceed your prim limit (the number of objects you are allowed to place on your land).
All of these things really require further clarification and I'm sorry if I have left you more confused that before you asked, but there is such limited space on Answers and you were asking a lot of things that all require long replies.
