Adrian Said:

Whats the best way to get a job in a doctors office? Where do i put my resume?

We Answered:

You have to hit the pavement and apply to different offices. I don't know how many doctors would hire a lab tech.

Even if you are willing to do clerical work they might be apprehensive because of our education level. They'll assume that you'll leave once something better comes a long.

I suggest a local lab. The techs do almost everything there.

Stacy Said:

Do Doctors offices hire more LPNs or RNs?

We Answered:

Actually, many doctor's offices use Medical Assistants because they are cheaper to employ and can handle most office tasks such as taking vital signs, taking blood or performing some diagnostic tests such as EKGs. However, some docs do have an RN on staff, or perhaps an LPN, depending upon what they need done. Specialists, like neurologists or cardiologists, might be more likely to employ an RN or LPN who are able to perform more advanced skills such as assessment.

Training as an MA is faster and less expensive, but limits your employment options somewhat. If you are sure you want to stay in the doctor's office setting, it might be right for you. Becoming an RN takes longer and costs more, but you'll have many more employment opportunities available to you.

do you know any doctor offices that are hiring?

We Answered:

I don';t know of any that are hiring, but I know that the Georgia Labor Office would possibly know of some that are.

Emma Said:

are men usually hired in doctors' offices as an aide or do I have to become a nurse or what?

We Answered:

Many offices would hire men - if they're qualified. Try Internal Medicine offices or other specialists. Most pediatricians and Ob-Gyns generally keep their staffs female, but not all. Since you have a Phlebo license, try larger group practices, they're quicker to hire those, since they try to keep everything in house as much as possible.

Frances Said:

I want to work at a doctors office or clinic?

We Answered:

Shawn,
You can go to a technology center and have your LPN/LPN license in a years time. This is sufficient schooling to working in a doctor's office in most cases.

To acquire an RN takes much longer, but the pay scale is much more attractive.

Good luck!
