Doctors Surgery Jobs

Keith Said:

I need a hepatitis B vaccination before i can start a care job but my doctors surgery doesn't provide them!!

We Answered:

your new employer should have all the details of where you can have the vaccine, but they should have links to an occupational health centre, normally attached to your local hospital, where you are screened and given vaccine free of charge.

Katrina Said:

are jobs available for doctors who can't speak chinese but would like to work in guang zhou?

We Answered:

no

Wade Said:

What training do staff do at Doctors Surgery`s?

We Answered:

It's not up to the doctors surgery as to what they do

It's up to government ..........and they keep changing the rules and the guidelines!

things like knowing when to refer someone to a walk in centre....
when to push someone in, betweenen regular patients.

when to advise they go to A/E...

when to just call an ambulance from the doctors as an emergency

and when to just suggest that something isn't an emergency at all and could wait until the next available apt

all this needs to be updated in the light of guidelines received from the PCTs ( which will be no more soon)

incidents of abuse and violence in surgeries might make the team decide to have a training day on defusing patients upsets

new computer systems would warrant a training day

new ways of running any system would need a training day

knowing when to interupt a doctor mid-consultation

knowing how to refer without consulting a doctor
and all these things change

counselling referals

stroke rehab

routine testing

payments for reports

invoicing the council for routine sick note reports

how to respond to solicitors/ police/employers telephone requests

how to handle PCTs insisting that a dr is interupted

how to handle complaints within the team

general team work

new contracts of employment

whether or not a twelve year old can request details of a sexual health clinic

can a child take a baby in to see a doctor if their parent is ill and at home

can a receptionist give medical details to a furiously angry and drunk patient

what to do is someone vomits in the waiting room and there's only you on duty

what to do when a fight breaks out

what if someone dies in the waiting room
or in a consulting room

or a baby is born

Bottom line?
"Training is a vital part of providing the best possible service to our patients......"

Louise Said:

I want to be a doctor when I grow up, but I don't want to do surgery? What job can I do?

We Answered:

Picking a job based on potential income is a big mistake. You'll be working for a long time, and you need to like what you are doing in order to be motivated to go to work each day. Plus, medicine takes a great deal of dedication - long hours and the training is no walk in the park.

Now, if you had researched medicine as a career then you should know that all doctors do not perform surgery. That doesn't mean that there isn't a "gross" factor. Kids throwing up, skin rashes, etc. etc.

I would suggest you have a discussion with your school counselor. Once you settle on a couple of options then you need to look into what schools you could go to and whether you have the grades to even qualify for entrance to their programs, how much this will cost and what the work life is really like.

Julio Said:

What jobs are there for Doctors surgery...?

We Answered:

Doctors can branch out and specialize in any number of fields. A few off the top of my head:

Pediatrics
Oncology
Infectious disease
Endocrinology
Rheumatology
Hospice
Surgery (which can then branch a thousand more ways)

The list goes on forever. Most of the time when you want to specialize, you need extra schooling on top of your Doctorate degree and you'll probably have to do a residency where you'll learn more of the specific hands-on skills for that particular field.

You'll ALWAYS use biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology and math.

Jeffrey Said:

Will COBRA cover post-surgery visits costs (physical therapy and doctor visits) in between jobs?

We Answered:
