Does anyone have a list of OBGYN doctors that accept medicaid in Houston? We Answered:
I know doc crowe does or at least she did 2 years ago in sugarland takes it and she is GREAT.Ian Said:
if a doctors office accepts medicare do the accept medicaid also?We Answered:
Medicare and Medicaid are completely different programs. Medicare is federal-funded, while Medicaid is state-funded. Doctors don't have to worry about being paid with Medicare, because they always are. With Medicaid, they often aren't, depending on the state.Roy Said:

Why don't more doctors accept Medicaid and/or Medicare? We Answered:
You just answered your own question. Reimbursement rates are low. Add to that the red tape docs must go through just to get those piddly reimbursements...honestly it is such an administrative headache that I don't blame docs for opting out.It costs a lot for doctors to run their offices. Docs have to hire nurses, administrative folks to run the office; have to rent the office in which they work, have to pay outrageous malpractice insurance and pray not to get sued. There is no way a doctor could run their office by making "a few dollars more than minimum wage." That is fiscally impossible.
And after going through so many years in some of the toughest training and curriculum that any profession has to offer, physicians DESERVE to make a good living. Who would want to put themselves through years of school and training, only to NOT make good money? Not anyone you would want to be your doctor, that is for sure.
