Nicholas Said:

Is This Ob-Gynecologist telling the truth or just making money?

We Answered:

I'd switch doctors immediately and don't take any meds she gave you in a bag. There are to many things that tell me there are so many things wrong with this picture meaning the doctor not you.
Next before I go on look up her medical license on the State board website of your state to see if she has any cases against her. Here is a link that lets you click on your state you live in to check on any doctor license.

The fact she already scared you cannot be good for a patient doctor relationship and she may have giving you something illegal to take in the country you are in and if something were to go wrong because of that med someone could ask why you took the med anyway. Just because somone steals a stereo and sells it to another person doesn't mean that the person who bought it can keep it. Plus because she put pills in a bag how can you be sure that it's exactly what it's supposed to be. How do you know she's not trying to poison you? I hope not but when hubby gets meds from the doctors office they come in a bottle and are clearly marked with the name, dosage, and have an information sheet that tells how to take it.

It's not normal to have UTI's anytime but they can happen anytime to anyone. Women are more prone to getting UTI's because of the closeness of the anus, vagina, and urethra. Being pregnant doesn't automatically increase your risk of infection. Did you have any symptoms of a yeast infection? If not I think she's trying to tell you what could be wrong and in the end she may list your pregnancy as high risk which would give her more money. It's one thing to actually have a problem and need to pay extra for the tests and care but it sounds like she's planning on you having problems when you don't even have symptoms. A pap smear doesn't check for infections. It checks for abnormal cells in the cervix. If she said the pap smear was to check for infection I'd wonder where she got her medical degree.

Advising you to bring money to pay for something you may not need is saying she's not someone I'd trust. Maybe lots of women go to her because they feel more comfortable seeing a female doctor but in my experience and hearing other stories I've found out that my male doctors have been more honest, caring, careful, and gentle.

Before you take any medications an infection should already have been diagnosed and for her to be giving you medications not approved by the FDA in your country I'd say you could be taking a huge risk and if something were to happen you may not be able to get compensated because you took something that was already illegal in the country. I also want you to check the spelling on the Ceforex because when I searched it in yahoo a bunch of sites came up in a different language and the search asked if the spelling was Cefonex or Cephalexin. Whenver I had a UTI in pregnancy my doctor gave me macrobid because with this antibiotic it's concentrated in the urine and not as dangerous as other antibiotics taken in pregnancy. You can look up a drug to see how it's listed in the pregnancy category. When I looked up Cephalexin it said it was category B. but consultation with a doctor should be done first and you should have the infornation about the drug included http://www.drugs-pro.com/antibiotics/Cep…

Anyway about you being on bed rest unless you have had bleeding or other symptoms of a miscarriage I don't see why she is scaring you like this. 30 is not old to be having a baby and most women don't have amnicentisis special test until they are 35 or older. I heard that 3 out of 4 women can miscarry but you shouldn't be made ot be on bed rest unless you have a condition that requires you to be on bed rest like high blood pressure, early labor, or some other problem. Because you had an ultrasound (I had one at my first doctor visit) you already know that the baby has a heart beat and it sounds like from what they told you everything is going well.

I could go on about what I see is not right but that could be awhile. I wouldn't ask for another opinion but see another doctor on the plan to see if you like that doctor and then tell that doctor what she did. If you say you are going in for a second opinion most doctors will bill it as that and that fee alone can be more than if you just went in and met the doctor for the first time.

When you find another doctor that doctor can ask for any records, pictures of ultrasounds, and anything else needed. I wouldn't take any meds she gave you from another country until you have cleared it with another doctor first especially if you didn't have any symptoms of a UTI.

You should be taking a prenatal vitamin if not from the direct pharmacy by prescription another one that's in the pharmacy not one that's not even available in your country.

I've had my share of really good doctors, some o.k. and some that caused me to run away because of the way they treated me, scared me, or made me feel uncomfortable.

Also whenever I had an ultrasound I got the results good and reasons to be concerned from my doctor by a phone call because there was no need for me to go in. Some doctors will call with the results and some require you to go in but I'm thinking in my experience the only time I had to go in for test results was if I was seeing an orthopedic doctor.

Edited to say...When one has a UTI or symptoms it can be determined with a stick in the office and if it's clear and the patient has symptoms of a UTI then it can be sent to the lab to find out what's growing and the lab sheet will say which antibiotic is best for treating it. During pregnancy certain antibiotics are prescribed rather than others depending on how safe it is during pregnancy. I watched E.R. and one of the medical students suggested Bactirm (sulfa drug) for a pregnant woman with a UTI and the doctor said macrodantin was the drug of choice because of pregnancy. Look at this link as it shows the names of antibiotics that are safely used in pregnancy. I didn't see the drug you listed named on the safe list.
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/antibio…

"Certain other antibiotics should be avoided during pregnancy. For example, tetracyclines — such as doxycycline, tetracycline and minocycline — can damage a pregnant woman's liver, discolor a developing baby's teeth and cause various birth defects.

In addition, it's important to note that a recent study found an association between two classes of antibiotics commonly used to treat urinary tract infections — nitrofuran derivatives and sulfonamides — and rare birth defects. Although there's no direct proof that these antibiotics cause birth defects, additional research is needed. In the meantime, health care providers are likely to be more cautious in the use of these medications during pregnancy.

If an antibiotic is the best way to treat your condition — you have a urinary tract infection, for example, or you test positive for group B strep late in pregnancy (in which case antibiotics are given during labor) — your health care provider will prescribe the safest antibiotic at the safest dosage."

Notice it doesn't say doctor will prescribe the cheapest drug of choice but the safest drug of choice! She could end up causing you and the baby more problems which could cost you and your insurance thousands of uneeded dollars on wasted meds and tests that weren't needed. Not to mention the amount of money you could lose if the bed rest prevented you from being at work when you could have been working making money with a healthy pregnancy.

Do you suffer morning or all day sickness? If so I'd want to know what her thoughts are about this. Some women are so sick that they can't take their prenatal vitamins in the morning so they take them another time of the day with food or they are prescribed antinausea meds to help treat vomitting when the mom to be otherwise wouldn't be able to eat. Whatever drug you take make sure it's safe to be taken by pregnant women. You can also call your pharmacist and ask what the category of pregnancy is on the meds you are now on.

How do you think this TV show will portray Homeland Security turns into reality TV in their actual duties ?

We Answered:

I wonder how long it will last when Obama takes office. He wants raids and deportation stopped. Why have a Dept if your not going to allow them to do their job? Napalitano is his pick for Homeland Security remember?
