Is there need to wash the face with soap and water before reapplying sunscreen cream?

We Answered:

You do not need to wash your face or even rinse with water in between applying more sunscreen. But you also do not need to apply it if you are not going outside at all. The reason they recommend wearing sunscreen every day is that most people get a little bit of sun exposure when they leave the house for work or school even if they are inside most of the day. If you are planning to go out then just put it on about 30 minutes before you will be in the sun. If you are staying home all day you don't have to worry about it.
The rays emitted from a computer screen are not the same kind of radiation that causes sunburn or skin cancer, so suncreen won't do anything here.

Rosacea related: has anyone used FACE DOCTOR soap?

We Answered:

I use cetaphil, you can buy it just about anywhere. However I suffered with rosacea for 5 years before I finally went to a doctor who sent me to a dermatologist. I am now on Tetracycline(sp?) a pill and it works great!

Lucille Said:

My face is so oily all of the sudden!?

We Answered:

Simple- your skin is adjusting. Whenever you switch cleaning products or routines, your skin needs time to get used to it. In this case, what's going on seems to be that your skin is getting annoyed at having these new products drying it out, and so it's overcompensating by producing more oil than ever to combat what it perceives as "damage". I can't believe your doctor wouldn't tell you this him- or herself, I would think it would be part of the basic information you got with the medicine!

Anyway, give your skin about a month or so to get used to the products. Start using an oil-free moisturizing lotion to help combat the dryness without adding more oil to your face; that should soothe your skin enough that it doesn't feel it needs to make excess oil to compensate. If you feel your face is still too oily, get some blotting papers to help with your skin's transitional period. After about a month or two, if you're still having the problem, don't hesitate to go back to your doctor and let him or her know! He or she can't fix the problem if they don't know it's happening!

Is Ivory a good soap for acne?

We Answered:

I found that proactiv works great but if you don't want to spend that much I would use something like Clean & Clear Morning Burst cleanser twice a day & afterwards to keep my face from drying out I would use a moisturizer.Personally,I use Olay age defying(I'm 22 though).I use this b/c it's not too greasy or heavy. If your a little shy to use that I wouldn't worry b/c my boyfriend uses it too & it's not really a big deal.

Brad Said:

do i have an allergic reaction to a face soap?

We Answered:

hello-
Ive had these reactions and facial allergies for over 19 yrs.
Mostly resulting from using soaps that had fragrance in them.
After seeing many many doctors, I was told to only use hypo-allergenic products.
My eyes would be deformed, puffy, red, pink, itchy, and painfull. SOmtimes so puffy that they would almost be closed shut.
Benadryl medication will take this away.
In the future be sure to always use sensitive skin products such as: Clinique, Almay, Aveeno..
This doesnt only apply to just soap..be sure to use cremes, lotions, detergents with very low fragrance if you have very sensitive skin that is prone to allergic reactions.
