Finding A Good Doctor For My Baby in Maryland?

We Answered:

Do you have Preferred Pediatrics in Maryland? I live in Virginia myself and have been going to them since my daughter was born. I have been to 2 different locations and have had great experiences, you should look into them.

How do I go about finding a good doctor..how do i find about their credentials and reviews from patients?

We Answered:

Probably the best site to use is the American Medical Associations Doctor Finder. It will give you lots of info:
doctor's name
address
phone number
hours
education
and more
You can connect to them via this link: http://webapps.ama-assn.org/doctorfinder…

How did you go about finding a good eye doctor?

We Answered:

its hit or miss. some of the best docs i know work next door to lenscrafters, eyemasters, pearle, etc. and 2 of the biggest idiots in my town are private practice docs.

but for the most part IMO private practice optometrists generally have more to lose if you are unhappy, and generally speaking the "commercial" practices like lenscrafters, etc are more interested in getting you out quicker (like i said above, thats certainly not always true).

you really have to ask your friends/neighbors who they like the best, and most of the time you end up just trying a few until you find one you like

What is the best method for finding a good doctor?

We Answered:

PCP's are tougher to find than a good specialist because there's not real way of doing it other than referral by friends and family. Of couse they are not really qualified to render a professional opinion so you're kind of shooting in the dark with that approach.

You can check the board of medicine in your area to get certin information on PCP and Specialist. You'll at least get if they've been sued often, if their license has be suspended, etc. which is useful in judging how good they are. Couple that information with the opinions above and you're in a better position than most people are when they make a choice.

Specialists are easier to find by looking at hospitals that have specialized practices. They tend to attact the best, who charge the most, who atract the most patients, who drive revenue to the bottom line. These types of institutions don't want shoddy workmanship to ruin their reputation or potential for growth.

Thyroid problem and finding a good doctor?

We Answered:

YES... actually, just go to a family Dr. If you want to see a specialist, For your thyroid, you need to see an Endocrynologist. Most specialists require a referral. Get to you family DR asap, as your thyroid control many things! If not, search "endocrynologists in _____" see what you get! Good luck!

Your thyroid controls things like weight gain, your mood, (many times a thyroid problem gets confused with depression!) A specialist is best... a regulated thyroid will do wonders for metabolism, mood, tiredness. Find a specialist!
