Finding A Gynecologist

Dave Said:

Can i find a gynecologist at a medical clinic?

We Answered:

They can usually perform all examinations.

Alma Said:

What all does a gynecologist find out about you?

We Answered:

As long as you haven't done anything within the past few days, don't have an infection, and don't have recent cuts or scars (like from fingernails), the gyn won't know much. If he asks about sexual activity, be honest about it and what kind (masterbation and fingering, too, not just sex itself). Some times there is slight swelling or scars noticable, and he may need to clarify the cause of it to advise you (like not to masterbate too vigorously, need to use a lubricant, choose a proper sized toy, or whatever).

Heidi Said:

best method for finding a gynecologist?

We Answered:

If you have a family doctor, then you should go to him and see if he recommends you to a gynecologist. They will ask professional questions, which may involve your intimate life, depending on what problems you have. If you're really not comfortable divulging information, however, they can't push you to answer.

We Answered:

My best friend told me about her doctor, so I called and made an appointment.

finding one gynecologist?

We Answered:

I use a woman family doctor and she does my "female" tests. Recently she referred me to a specialist because of some problems and she gave me the names of three women ob/gyn doctors knowing a woman was my choice. It's perfectly ok to call a dr.'s office to get info to see if that dr. will meet your needs. For example....when I was choosing an ob/gyn (I needed one who would do surgery on me) I called the office and asked the receptionist some questions. How much the dr. charged for a visit, what hospital the dr. worked from, how long she's been in this field....pretty much anything that helps you make a decision. I found out the dr. I chose had worked in a cancer unit as an intern and since there were some concerns about cancer, she was the one I chose.
I've never had any insurance that didn't cover a gynecologist and I doubt if that'll be an issue. I didn't even need a written referral.....I just decided which dr. I wanted and made the appointment....couldn't have been easier.
Good luck!!!
