Can a minor get a tattoo removed in Oregon? We Answered:
Oh boy!! I am sorry you had such a bad experience! That sounds horrible! Do your parents know? I am sure your mom/dad could make an appt for you with someone that does laser removal. I live in Oregon and know the laws for tattoos but do not know about the laser removal. Being a minor I would think that you would need a parent with you for medical appts. I would think that your parent/parents would want to be involved after the nightmare you went thru. I had MRSA infection once and it was the worst pain I have ever had and I am an adult and cried like a baby. i could only imagine what you went thru. I am really sorry. I would suggest maybe be an advocate to young people out there that want to do whatever they can to obtain a tattoo when they are under age. You could tell your story in the hopes that it would discourage them and help them make the decision to wait. Good luck to you!Charlie Said:
my question is about hip replacement versus hip resufacing? We Answered:
The links below offer you some information that you could use in your decision:http://totaljoints.info/what_new1.htm#22…
(This links to a summary of an article discussing current recommendations re: resurfacing)
http://totaljoints.info/what_new1.htm#20…
(This talks about the success of the Birmingham resurfacing device)
Here are links that discuss resurfacing:

All of the above links are to a website that was developed by an orthopedic surgeon as a service to patients. There is no commercial content. It appears in [slightly fractured] English translation. I recommend it as a source of reliable, easy to understand information on the subject of hip (and knee) replacement and resurfacing.

Hip resurfacing. Anyone used Dr. Michael Clarke from Syracuse, NY? Or can you refer someone in upstate NY?We Answered:
I've had both hips replaced in separate surgeries several months apart. I was 59. The recoveries for total and resurf replacement aren't that different. Pain wasn't a big deal except during the first few days if I moved "wrong" I found that pain was aggressively treated in the hospital. Since I had two bad hips my recovery was rather slower after surgery#1 because my other hip didn't like being the "good" hip. I was approved to drive at about 5 weeks both times. I graduated from a walker or crutches to a cane and found that I didn't need the cane much after about 4 weeks post-surgery #2. Now I can walk miles, have no pain, need no pain meds, have no limp and have my life back. Hip replacement is a miracle surgery IMHO and I am certain that I'd be in a wheel chair today if I hadn't had it.As for surgeon searches, I suggest that you join and ask your question at this Yahoo group - they discuss resurfs and are quite active. I think you will get more good answers there than here.

This page gives a list of surgeons who do resurfs by state. (I see that Clarke has done a lot of them)

should i have limit motions after total hip replacement? We Answered:
The traditional posteriolateral approach requires the following limitations immediately after surgery: you are required to limitA. flexing the hip past 90 degrees
B. bring the leg past midline (no crossing your legs)
C. no inward rotation of the leg.
From these three precautions, you get functional restrictions such as not being able to bend over to put on your shoes, no pivoting on the leg, etc. These precautions are meant to prevent dislocation of the prosthesis and are usually in place for at least three months...sometimes longer...it depends on your surgeon. Most of the daily pain will be gone by the third month, but you will still exhibit occasional pain for up to a year.
Running can wear out the prosthesis sooner, but the technology continues to improve and as long as you are honest with your surgeon about your intended activity level, he or she will be able to select the appropriate prosthesis. While running might not be in your best interest, other forms of exercise are acceptable...elliptical machine, stairmaster, etc.
Hip replacement is generally a very successful surgery, but you need to discuss your concerns with the surgeon

Should i have limit motions after total hip replacement? We Answered:
You should be asking your doctor and/or surgeon all of these questions! They can answer you in-depth, especially since they know you and your body.btw, I'm sorry to hear about your accident. I wish you a quick recovery...
