There are still plenty of jobs for doctors and for some types of engineer, but overall, the job situation in Australia is fairly grim. From discussions I've had over the last couple of months with friends in the US though, I don't think it's nearly as bad in Australia - yet. We're not actually officially even in recession yet, but business confidence is well down which is being reflected in a scarcity of jobs as employers adopt a seige mentality and contract their operations and that type of attitude tends to become a self fulfilling prophecy.

There is a very high demand for overseas doctors in Australia, particularly in country areas as Australian doctors prefer to work in the cities.

Firstly, the AMC includes a clinical section so you will to be able to pass that as well; as the multiple choice section.

After you pass the tests, yes you can get a job here.

Your salary will depend on whether you have specialised and what your specialty is etc.

The whole process might take a while, because tests are carried out when there are places available for you to work - i think about 900 tests are done per year and there are waiting lists to take the test.

Yes and no - if you are not from NZ you are not permitted to practice medicine in any city for 10 years (since 2008) - you have to move to a rural location for those 10 years. So if you are interested in practicing in a district hospital 400km from Sydney, Melbourne any of the cities you are famiiiar with, then you should be able to dins a job.

We have high standards for doctors in Australia. Unlessyou are an extremely rare case for India, I don't think your credentials would be of a high enough standard to practice medicine in Asutralia. We don't allow the poor to donate kidneys for money in Australia, so I'm not sure what else you could do here.
