Dietary supplement to make my cat gain weight. Doctor says cat is healthy but he loses about 1pound per year?We Answered:
I just went through a similar problem with my 8 y/o cat. Two senior blood-panels in six months showed nothing unusual in spite of him losing 2 lbs in that time period. The vet recommended a blood test for pancreatitis (after the "normal" blood tests showed nothing). She also offered the option of two additional tests that were a bit extra.
I'm glad I did the optional tests. They showed a vitamin B absorption problem. Just three weeks after starting his treatment, he's gained almost a pound.
So, I agree with the other posters - time to get a vet who will help you work through the necessary tests to find out what's going on.

weight????? doctor??We Answered:
5 foot and 99lbs works out to be a BMI of 19.3 which is just a hair underweight. They are likely concerned that you're not eating enough to get all the nutrition you need. Do also remember that BMI is just a guideline - they give a range of weights because different people have different sizes. If you were naturally slender, then maybe 100lbs would be ok, but if you have a bigger frame - wider shoulders and hips, then 100lbs may be too little. If you haven't yet gotten your period or if you go months without having it that is often also caused by being underweight which is another reason to try to increase your weight.
You may want to keep a food dairy for a week or two for your next visit to the doctors. Then they can better recommend what you should be adding - or they may even take a look at what you're eating and realize you're eating a healthy balanced diet and that you're fine just the way you are (I hope that's the case!). I'm sure your doctor sees enough teens with eating disorders that he or she just wants to make sure you're ok and not dieting.

my 3 months baby girl is only 4600g weight, doctor said she is underweight, can i increase my milk?i am sad 4her?We Answered:
Feed her the formula after nursing her.During feeding switch sides after 15 minutes on one side. Nurse her more often, and pump in-between. Add either Mother's Milk Tea or fenugreek (2-3 caplets 3-4 times a day until your urine, sweat, breath and milk smell of maple syrup) to your diet, and don't skimp on calories to loose weight - eat a normal healthy diet.
Hopefully you will be able to get away from formula in a few weeks, I know I did. Good luck!

How can I lose weight all over?We Answered:
-join a class that meets almost every day...it'll keep you active.-take a look at your diet; do you overindulge in one food group? try balancing your diet...every meal should consist of a protein (chicken, tofu...), fruit, veggie, and bread (whole grain).
-my secret to healthy eating: i don't eat any white carbs...no white bread, white pasta, anything with white flour. trust me, if you look you could find pizza with a whole wheat crust. this stops you from overeating in restaurants too. it kind of forces you to eat a salad when your out. (watch out for those croutons and chips)
-i also don't eat anything unhealthy...no sweets, chocolate or anything. you don't have to go this extreme, but i thought i'd suggest it.
-overall, balance is key. be active from 30-60 minutes a day. oh, and give yourself a break. one slice of cake or skipped work out isn't the end of the world.

The doctor told my wife to gain some weight. How should she do that?We Answered:
First, keep her exercising and staying healthy. Gaining a little bit of muscle will be a very healthy environment for a baby for 9 months. And as for what to eat... eat more nuts.. (peanut butter too) they are high in calories, fat, carbs, and protein. Also eat more white meat. Fish, chicken, etc. Also eating pastas that are high in carbohydrates. And encourage her to eat until she is really stuffed, but not TOO stuffed. And don't forget to take your vitamins everyday! Good luck with the baby! :)
