Not in the UK, unless there is a major health problems - if you had tried every diet possible you would lose weight, you would put it on again when diet over, to lose weight you need to change your complete eating program and exercises, I have been a diet expert for 30 years, I am not qualified or anything like that, it is just I have been on so many diets trying to lose weight and I have lost it and put it back on but I know it is because I did not have a healthy eating plan for the rest of my life which I now have to do as I have developed diabetes because of being overweight and unhealthy. You are young you can eat healthily, we don't expect you to eat lettuce and water, just cut out junk food and take aways, you can have the odd chocolate bar but for me the most important part is exercises, the doctor told me I am not loosing weight because I don't eat enough? My partner is a big guy but he has diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sore legs, and I know he wont live till hes a pensioner - is that the kind of life you want? The choice is yours no one can force you.

Why don't you post your question here? There a re a lot of professionals here. I have very vast nursing experience . Makes me better sometimes rather than doctors. Main reason is that we are in close proximity with the patients on a 24/7 basis.
